Looking at the top hitting percentages players leads to one player, Mya Marsh, that really stands out following a more detailed perspective. She has made only 15 errors. Additionally, her kill to error ratio is a eye popping 10:1. The next thought is that perhaps Marsh simply keeps the ball in play. Think again. Her kill percentage is over 50% of her attack attempts. Specifically, how she does this is mostly with her upper body. She has great arm extension that gives her a wide area of acceptable sets to hit. Additionally, that arm extension allows her to work the ball around left, right, over, and through a block.

is a dominant force at the net as a hitter. Her arm comes up and the ball goes down faster than the blink of an eye. She does hit mostly straight ahead of where she is attacking. However, Hanes is the in infancy stages of developing flexibility and mobility to face one way and hit another with the same power. Expect that ability to continue to grow as she gets set behind the setter more. She has excellent footwork in the transition phase knowing when to stop and just get up no matter where she is. This will be an exciting player to watch finishing the high school season and into club.

provides the challenge that most leftys bring to a blocker. That is timing. She takes a methodical approach that gives her time to see where the block has lined up. Additionally, she has a long arm extension giving her extra inches that further the challenge to blockers. Her natural and strongest attacking option is deep down the line. To mix things up, her setter will set her in the middle which often brings about a devastating cross court attack right at a defender. Also, her team does something that is rarely seen anymore and that is setter digging to the rightside. When this happens, Vazquez turns and hits on the second contact.

is really what keeps her on the leaderboard for hitting percentage. During one of her attack attempts, the ball seems to always find it’s way off the block. Specifically, she has an upward driving swing that finishes with a nice wrist snap to stay in the court to score points. The middle blocker next to her probably likes playing with her because she is really is excellent at the net. As she finds a seam or attacks a blocker’s hand, that opposing middle likely gets so focused on Cordero. As a result, her middle teammate has less to battle against at the net.

, getting to a specific spot to start her approach is the key to her hitting prosperity. That starting spot gives her time and distance to watch and get to almost any set. She hits a hard, heavy ball that blasts right through blockers outstretched arms. Additionally, she keeps defenders on their toes by hitting a well placed offspeed attack to the back corner of the court. The most difficult part about defending Bispo is the rotation of her body in the air. Specifically, she starts very open to the court and then rotates around. Yet, at any time during that rotation she may bring her arm around to hit. Blockers really need to watch her closely to have any chance of slowing her attack.
