There tends to be an extra boost of confidence and support when playing alongside family. Meet five sets of sisters who will be playing together in a effort to win the Division 1 title.
Meet the Ostovar Sisters. They attend Mater Dei High School. The Lady Monarchs are coached by Dan O’Dell, Crystal Day, and Darren Ong. The Ostovar sisters play for Mizuno Long Beach. Ayva has good hands and knows how to place hittable balls for her pins. Kayla is a great defensive player by receiving serves, covering blocks, picking up tips, diving and digging for balls. Layli has a fast approach, quick arm swing and power behind each attack.

Meet Gabriella and Samantha (Sammy) Destler Samantha (Sammy) Destler 6'1" | OH Marymount | 2026 State CA . They play for Marymount High School. The Lady Sailors play under the guidance of Carie Klein and Tuan Le. Gabriella and Samantha are hitters who can score.

Meet twins Mallory and Molly LaBreche Molly LaBreche 5'8" | DS/L Palos Verdes | 2025 State CA . They attend Palos Verdes High School. The Lady Sea Kings are coached by Patrick Lynch and Lacey Minzlaff. Mallory attacks on offense, and blocks on defense. Molly has a solid platform that controls her pass.

Meet sisters Halie and Hanna McGinest. The McGinest sisters attend Sierra Canyon High School. The Lady Trailblazers are coached by Stefanie Wigfall and Darrin Phillips. They play club volleyball for Mizuno Long Beach. Halie attacks the ball with force, being able to split or tool the block. Hanna places the ball in open areas to score.

Coming from Los Alamitos High School, the Laddy Griffins are coached by Dave Huber. Sisters Kaia and Kaitlyn Herweg brings both offensive and defensive skills to the game.

Two things these players have in common are the opportunity to play alongside their sister and the goal to win the CIF Southern Section Division 1 for their school.
Play continues on Tuesday October 24th at 6 p.m. for Division 1. #1 Mater Dei plays at home against #5 Marymount. #2 Mira Costa plays at home against #6 Bishop Alemany. #3 Huntington Beach plays home against #7 Los Alamitos. #4 Sierra Canyon is at home against #8 Palos Verdes.
