, so she will face a club teammate across the net on Saturday.
She was an NTDP Winter invitee as a sophomore and an NIT All-Tournament selection last February. When I first wrote about her in 2024, I described a relentless competitor and a fierce blocker whose energy lifts a team. That description still fits.
In the 2024 final, she hit 4 kills and took 16 serve receptions. In the 2025 final, she put up 10 kills and took 21 serve receptions. That is a hitter who grew into the pass-and-swing workload that decides a match against Mater Dei.
This fall she told me her Texas Tech commitment has her playing with more confidence and holding herself to a higher standard. She said she wants to lead and stay aggressive when the match gets tough. In the Marymount match on 10/23, I saw it in her shot selection. She picked her spots instead of swinging out of everything.
Here is what she told me this week:
“This third matchup means a lot because we know how competitive it’s going to be, and we’re excited for another chance to play them. Knowing it’s my last time playing Mater Dei makes it even more special, and I want to leave everything on the court with my team.”
There is no hedge in that answer. She wants this one with her teammates, and she is not pretending it is just another match.

, committed to Texas Tech in September was locked in on offense against Marymount. She dominated at the net on overpasses with swings and swipes, and she brought power and heat. She was smart with her shots and roll shots, picking her spots instead of just swinging hard.
Before the match, Hanna said, “I’m focused on being a stronger leader for my team and staying aggressive, especially in tough moments.” The way she played against Marymount is exactly that. Sierra Canyon hosts Los Alamitos on Tuesday.

has turned a commitment into a higher standard.
McGinest committed to Texas Tech in September. She was an NTDP Winter invitee as a sophomore and an NIT All-Tournament selection in February, and we described her in 2024 as a relentless force and a fierce blocker with infectious energy.
Hanna’s Voice
“Since committing to Texas Tech, I’ve been playing with more confidence and pushing myself to hold a higher standard every time I step on the court. I’m focused on being a stronger leader for my team and staying aggressive, especially in tough moments. It’s exciting knowing where I’m headed, but it also motivates me to keep improving.”
She connects her commitment to leadership and to staying aggressive when the match gets hard, which is the question coaches ask about every committed senior. She is raising her own bar.

was a physical presence from the opening serve, bringing energy with back-row swings and steady front-row hitting. She provided stability in serve receive and kept Marymount’s defense honest with her attacking range. When McGinest gets going, the impact is loud and clear. For college coaches, she is an uncommitted outside with size, athleticism, and a complete game that projects well at the next level. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247
