It is still early but if this were a club tryout I would be thinking national championship. There are players from Metro ( Morgan Williams Morgan Williams 6'4" | OH Lake Braddock | 2026 State VA ), Paramount ( Taylor Harrington Taylor Harrington 6'2" | MB Wakefield | 2027 State VA ), MVSA ( Ema Djordjevic Ema Djordjevic 6'0" | OH Richard Montgomery | 2025 State VA ), MOCO ( Elizabeth Higday Elizabeth Higday 5'9" | S Georgetown Day | 2025 State VA ), East Coast Power ( Wynn Mendez Eaton Wynn Mendez Eaton 5'10" | S St. John's College | 2026 State VA ), Liberty Elite ( Adyson Seymour Adyson Seymour 5'8" | S Boonsboro | 2025 State MD ) and Beach Elite ( Ivey Lucas Ivey Lucas 5'7" | S Poquoson | 2025 State VA ). Two of those players rank number one in the class of 2027 and 2026. Of course, the challenge would be what to do with the mixture of Old Dominion and Chesapeake players.
The event will take place at St. James on December 10 from 7 to 9 PM. There is a cost in running this event so unfortunately there is a cost for participating. If you register before October 15th the cost is $100. After October 15th it bumps up to $120. The good news is that if you use the code “AbelsExpo2023” you get a $10 discount. Only about 30 percent of those registered so far have entered this code so please take advantage.
The Event Director will be Nicole Binetti. She coaches at Salisbury University in Maryland. Unfortunately, the December 10 time frame falls within the quiet period for Division I coaches. However, the games will appear on BallerTV and Division II and III coaches are not impacted by the quiet period.
This will be my first Official Expo. It may be the first time Prep Dig has ventured into the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area. The goal is to write a number of articles about the event with the hope of providing as much exposure as possible to each of the athletes who attend the event.
After looking at the initial list of attendees I can’t wait for the event to get started. It should be an intense two hours of volleyball. There is already a full team of players who appear in the top ten rankings, plus a few players I am not familiar with who play for elite clubs like Lexianna Everetts for Club 540.
