Continue ReadingThe AVCA recently published its 18th annual AVCA Girls High School All-America Teams, and our California Prospects are represented. A remarkable trio secured spots on the prestigious AVCA All-America First Team, while another three earned well-deserved positions on the Second Team. Additionally, two Prospects made their mark on the Third Team, with seven talented Prospects from California receiving Honorable Mention All-America recognition.
Two Uncommitted Prospects, Sade Ilawole, and Hannah Maguire were among the elite.

Sade llawole, 2024: 5’2″ Setter for Sierra Canyon
UncommittedrnSade Llawole stands out as one of the most impressive senior setters I’ve come across this year. Serving as the setter for numerous Division One recruits, she has sparked intrigue in the volleyball community, prompting questions about whether any hesitation stems solely from her height. I have featured Sade several times in an attempt to get her more deserved exposure. In our Who’s on the Court: Sierra Canyon | Prep Dig article, “Sade is a standout setter with a smooth touch on the ball. She defies expectations, consistently delivering the ball at the perfect height for her hitters, showcasing a level of precision that belies her height. What she lacks in stature, she more than makes up for with confidence, leading her team with poise and determination. Sade shared her aspirations to take her talent to the collegiate level. I spoke with Sade after the match and she so eloquently stated, “For all the short setters out there, don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t do it because it is definitely possible.”

I recently wrote about Hannah, “Hannah recently showcased her skills on the grand stage of the Central Coast Section Open Division championship, impressively securing a victory in one game against Archbishop Mitty.” AVCA All-Region Teams – Uncommitted Prospects in Region 9
Whitney Wallace, 2024: 5’8″ for Saint Francis
Committed: Oklahoma
“She plays at Saint Francis High School and also for the Vision volleyball program. Miss Wallace was pivotal throughout the entire tourney for this squad as they went on to win the Championship in the 17 Open division. With that they qualified for the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals this summer in Chicago. Her back row play in both serve receive and defense rose to the challenge when the going got tough and she allowed her squad’s offense to stay in system. They went up against some stellar attackers who were unleashing bombs on them, but Whitney was there to stop the ball from hitting the floor and keep the rally going. Time after time she sprawled out left, right, and in font of her to make some amazing saves. In my opinion she was one of the best liberos in the entire tournament regardless of age group. She keeps her weight on the balls of her feet, which helps her stay ready to react quickly to deflections, off-speed shots, and mis-hits.” Salt Lake City National Qualifier Top Performers Vol 1 | Prep Dig
