Emma Hines Emma Hines 6'2" | RS McCutcheon | 2025 State IN , 6-2 RS, McCutcheon, Boiler Juniors
A big and strong kid with a wingspan wider than she is tall (6’4″!), Emma can be best used as a right side for defensive purposes. She’s a two-sport stud, meaning she can use the physicality of basketball on the volleyball court while applying the athleticism of both to whomever signs her. Emma is untapped potential waiting to happen, all in a 6-2 frame that cannot be taught.
Lilly Howell Lilly Howell 6'2" | MB Muncie Burris | 2025 State IN , 6-2 MB, Burris, Munciana
Fresh off of a state championship run this past weekend, Lilly is a big and physical middle that can take over matches in a hurry. Her length is useful when defending pin to pin, and her jumping ability on multiple tempi from setters can make some blocks obsolete. She’s also recently added another piece of hardware to her mantle—First Team All-State honors. In a class that is starved for big, strong and consistent middles, you could do far worse than Lilly.
Bella Dafforn Bella Dafforn 5'4" | DS/L Lawrence North | 2025 State IN , 5-4 DS/L, Lawrence North, Circle City
Making the jump over to Circle to play a more consistent and tougher match schedule, Bella has really grown from just two years ago as a freshman three-rotation DS at LN. Her platform is quiet, her feet are constantly moving, and she has great anticipation in comparison to other DS’s in this class. I don’t normally write about defensive specialists in my reviews of class rankings, but Bella is worth the exception to my rule.
Kyla Coolman Kyla Coolman 5'10" | S Penn | 2025 State IN , 5-10 S, Penn, NIVA
From way up in northern Indiana, I got a chance to see Kyla at one of our showcases. Her ability to get to every ball and still make a hittable set regardless of the hitter or the pass was immediately evident, and was the class of the setters that day. Although she didn’t receive a lot of playing time this past fall, that should change with additional training in club in the spring, and I’d be curious as to how long it will be before she commits somewhere.
Delaney Steers Delaney Steers 5'9" | OH Brownsburg | 2025 State IN , 5-9 OH, Brownsburg, Academy
Delaney is a heavy-armed primary passing outside that can play all six rotations. She’s an immediate plug-and-play for anyone looking for that terminal outside that can receive serve well. At 3k/3d per set, she’s the entire package with the athleticism of someone taller, but with the strength of a middle. She can power through blocks just as easily as she can go around and over them, and can hit from anywhere. Her defensive techniques are also above average for outsides in this class, as many taller pin attackers only play three rotations and lack in the floor defense area.
