I’m cheating a bit here, since I’ve known Kyla for a few years now. What makes her new? Her reclassification to this graduating class from the ’25 class. One of the better setters in this class, Kyla is a sure-footed and strong-handed setter that is training and playing with the inaugural 18-1 squad at Pineapple High Performance. Her feet always seem to get her to the spot, and her hands locate a ball that is highly hittable for all of her hitters in all situations. Relentless in her work ethic, this iteration of PHP is not having the best of seasons, but you wouldn’t know it from Kyla’s effort and attitude.

Reclassifying to the class of ’26, this strong and consistent setter is THE setter for Pineapple High Performance’s inaugural 18s team. Technique-wise, Kyla is spot on with both her footwork and her hands. I like the location she gives her hitters, as she makes nearly every pass hittable on offense. Her feet are quick and decisive, and she takes long strides to get to every pass. Although the team itself has had a rough go of it early on this club season, Kyla has kept it positive throughout, and is a floor leader if there ever was one. She’ll be on court 3 starting at 1p.

Recently reclassified to the class of ’26, Kyla is a compact, strong and athletic setter that runs a 5-1 with the new Pineapple High Performance 18-1. Of the players on this team, Kyla has shown the most promise among her fellow ’26s, and is willing to do the dirty work without accolades to get the job done. Although her squad hasn’t had the most positive of club seasons so far, Miss Coolman has shown that her relentlessness and athleticism will carry her far in her future, regardless of the roster around her.

I gravitate to setters because I used to be one, but this particular setter reminds me of me. Kyla is a hard-working coach’s daughter who understands the thankless grind, effort and attitude one needs to fully embrace collegiate athletics. Miss Coolman will not wow you with a spectacular play like Miss Brown, nor will she amaze you with her ability to place an impossible pass to a hitter. Kyla is a no-nonsense, hard-working, technically sound setter that is unassuming and plays with the same intensity no matter what the score is. She is as consistent as a setter can get, which at this point of the recruiting process is hard to find.

An overlooked and athletic setter from northern Indiana, Kyla is a coach’s kid and knows what it takes to perform at a high level day in and day out. On a tough play day for her team, Kyla kept things competitive with her constant and consistent work ethic and effort, and located a ton of balls right where they needed to be to score points. There were a few misconnections on the day, but with time and experience with her new teammates, this squad will be more than happy to have Miss Coolman at the helm of the offense.
