As we prepare for a couple of hours of great work and fun, let’s take a look at some of the players who will be in action that day in San Antonio.
Tuiasosopo is one of the most exciting offensive players to emerge in the San Antonio area in the last season and that feeling just became stronger after her strong high school season with O’Connor. She’s tall, athletic and gets off the floor well, but another thing I love about her offense is how well she’s able to ‘hide’ her shot until the last moment, when she sends the ball exaclty where she wants with her great wrist. Tuiasosopo is very efficient in the left and the right (while making very few mistakes) and is also an excellent blocker.
Not many players are capable of playing setter and outside hitter at a very high level and that speaks volumes of Fisher’s quality and how much she can bring to the table. Needless to say, she’s a very technical and intelligent player, who delivers exactly what her teams need in either spot – I saw her play outside hitter in the last club season but she spent the last club season at setter. Her size and athleticism would allow Fisher to play either position at a high level going forward, but until she picks one over the other, she’ll just continue to contribute all across the board.
Highlights
Waclawczyk has been at our events before and there were always great words to describe about her work on the court. Effort and positioning are two things that are talked about a lot when describing liberos and she definitely has that, but a closer look at her game reveals other of her strengths, such as her efficient and well-balanced movement on the backcourt and her attention to detail when setting her platform and sending the ball to her setter. Those skills and her hard work indicate she has what it takes to keep improving her game.
