The semifinals of the 1A and 2A Divisions were the first matches held at the Curtis Culwell Center and they ended with victories of Blum, Harrold, Crawford and Iola.
Here are the players who made a difference in each of the four encounters held on Wednesday:
Blum’s influential setter had a terrific performance in the semifinals, helping her team get a sweep against Neches and giving it a chance to defend the Division 1A title they won last year. Rumohr was excellent with her ball distribution, getting all her five starting hitters involved in the game and connected particularly well with Addison Willingham, who led the Bobcats with 14 kills. Besides getting a double-double of 29 assists and 13 digs, Rumohr also contributed to the team’s scoring efforts with a pair of kills and two aces.

Harrold’s first State Tournament trip will end with a State Championship match appearance in Division 1A in part thanks to an excellent display from Richardson, who led the team to a 3-1 win over Bronte in the semifinals. The high-flying middle blocker was the focal point of her team’s offense, but also contributed in other areas of the game, bringing great value to her team. Richardson produced 26 points during the match with a team-high 20 kills, three aces and three blocks. She also contributed on the backcourt with seven digs.

Crawford advanced to the State Championship game in Division 2A with a three-set win over Windthorst which had Featherston as one of the key players on the court. The explosive outside hitter contributed on both sides of the ball and was involved with every action of the team on the court. Featherson registered a double-double of ten kills and 14 digs and also added one ace and one block in her all-around performance.

Iola returned to the State Championship match in Division 2A for the first time since 2020 and Gooch played a big role in the team’s 3-1 victory over Schulenburg in the semifinals. The senior outside hitter had a tremendous all-around performance and led the team’s point-scoring, leaving the court with 26 (24 kills, two aces). She also proved her value in the backcourt, getting 14 digs, the second-best mark among the Lady Bulldogs.
Kieryn Adams

Adams’ impressive efforts on the backcourt weren’t enough to help Schulenburg get past Iola in the Division 2A semifinals, but she left her mark in the State Tourmanent. The 41 digs she got in the match are a new record record in the event and highlight how productive the libero was. Adams also got the Shorthorns two points from the service line and tallied a pair of assists.
