SubscribeThis group of setters was very impressive today. They are so young and still have so much time to develop into more than they are today. That being said, they are already very impressive and a driving force on the court. Let’s talk about a few of the stand-out setters from the sophomore class below.

Lola Fisher

Flour Bluff | 2026

Fisher is a 5’9″ sophomore setter at Flour Bluff High School. She is quick at settling down her team and the ball. When plans go awry, she can quickly make something of them and get someone set to hit. She is good at handling out-of-system balls and spreads her sets around well. She has good communication skills and can make split-second decisions in a match to optimize her team’s chance of winning.
Maddie Harden

Harden

Floresville | 2026
TX
Harden is a 5’10” sophomore setter from Floresville High School. Harden was one of my favorites to watch at the event. She is always ready to set, dig, or block. She is very athletic, very fast, and super focused. She made great offensive choices, her backsets were great, good use of jumping in serving, setting, blocking, or hitting. She could be a 6-rotation threat for most teams. She was truly an impressive setter for the day.

Aryanah LaBoone
LaBoone is a 5’6″ setter from Veterans Memorial High School. LaBoone is a calm and deliberate setter. She does not make rash decisions but is always making the best decisions for her team. I watched her play DS/L as well as a setter this weekend. She was equally good at both. She has a great platform, great form when setting, and is quick on her feet to dig the ball up. She does whatever is needed on the court whenever it needs to be done. She is the type of athlete that is the backbone of a good team. She sacrifices her own needs to satisfy what her team needs. She is one of the athletes that go unsung most of the time. She is great in her own right but will make any team better by having her on it.
Anais Ibarra

Ibarra is a 5’7″ setter from the sophomore class at Antonian College Preparatory School. Ibarra has soft hands and great control. Her range is fantastic and with that control, she is able to set either pin or in the middle easily and accurately. She is quick and is able to easily get the second touch on the ball to set one of her hitters. She has great concentration and is always where she is supposed to be when she is the receiver of a ball.

Maggie McCarroll

Regents | 2026
TX
McCarroll is a 6′ setter from Regents School of Austin. McCarroll is very athletic. She is big, strong, and graceful. She is a beautiful player to watch and I believe she would be a heavily recruited athlete. She has great serves, her blocking is top-notch, and she can hit also. Her offensive skills are amazing and I would want her driving my team in a tournament. She is just quick, smart, and a joy to behold.

Sibley Oster

Cedar Park | 2026
TX
Oster is a 5’9″ setter from the sophomore class at Cedar Park High School. Oster is always ready for the ball. Her feet are planted and her arms are open for the next move she needs to make. Her eye is always on the ball. She has a great connection with her sets to her hitters. They seem to connect right on target every time. She communicates well and is always looking for open spots on the opponent’s court. She can block and dig with regularity. She is a smart athlete and seems to motivate other athletes when she is on the court. She is athletic and strong and it looks easy to move the ball around to different hitters when she is doing it. It is deceptive though. She has a great deal of skill to be able to do what she does on the court.
Alyssa Reyes

Reyes

John Jay | 2026
TX
Reyes is a 5’4″ setter from John Jay High School. Reyes is strong and low to the ground when playing in the back row. She has a great platform and an easiness to her that allows her to be flexible on the court. She can adjust what she is doing for the situation in front of her and her team flows better with her on the court. She is very fast on her feet and this allows her to move wherever she needs to be to keep the rally going. She can dig better than most, set to anywhere with her great range and good control of her hands. Her best asset is her flexibility for the situation she finds herself in and her really good foundation of skills that she uses whenever on the court.

Skyler Scott

Cedar Ridge | 2026
TX
Scott is a 5’11” sophomore setter from Cedar Ridge High School. Scott is very fast and a great blocker as well as a great setter. She is very smart when setting up plays for her offense and can dig a ball up if a ball comes back from the block quite effectively. She is a great communicator and the tempo really picked up when she joined a team on the court. She thinks fast and makes good choices when deciding where to set a hitter to have the best chance for success. Her eyes are always moving to know what is happening on the other side of the net. She seems to motivate her teammates with her enthusiasm when she is on the court. She is a good player to have on your roster.

Olivia Pena

Pena is a 5’7″sophomore setter from Sandra Day O’Connor High School. Pena is a very determined player. You can tell when she is on the court that it has her undivided attention. She has a great platform, great hands, and great court awareness. She has the skills needed to be an amazing setter and her decisions are very smart. She drives her offense to the right places at the net to get a kill. She works very hard to be good and to make smart decisions and her efforts snag points for her team.
