After hosting events in San Antonio and Dallas, the Top 250 Expo came to Houston and the Competitive Edge Sports facility, the home of famed club TAV Houston , was the location where around 80 prospects from several regions in the state, including Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, reunited for a fun morning.
Prep Dig Scouting Director Michael DeLeon and I were in attendance, taking a good look at everyone on the court, and will share our findings over the next few days. This time, let’s look at the right side hitters that made a strong impression:
Porath has been a big contributor to her high school team Katy Taylor during the last high school season and showed at our event that she has what it takes to be a very productive offensive player. A lefty, she has gotten a lot better in terms of understanding how to use her legnth to score points at the net and quickly became the go-to player in the teams she played for in the match-like drills. Porath diplayed great variation when hitting from the right, limiting her errors and scoring at a very positive rate when set out of system. She also displayed good blocking discipline, especially when helping the middle stop the shoot set.
After watching film of Moore in action last season, it was great to finally get to watch her in person and she left absolutely nothing to be desired. She’s super athletic and her ability to jump out of the gym allowed her to battle with the top offensive players in our event and also generated significant praise from our court coaches. Besides having an incredible vertical, Moore is also very skilled with her swings, finding angles with her left hand that not many other players would. I also loved how she gets to be so confident and relaxed on the court at the same time, hitting ball after ball without missing a step.

Brown was a new face to me and I really liked what I saw from her during our event. Playing with great energy and confidence, she earned recognition in what was one of the strongest positions of our event. She did a good job with her all-around game, showing interesting skills on both sides of the ball and having good moments on the right and the left. Perhaps what stood out the most in her game was her calm and her ability to make good decisions, most notably in difficult situations.
Roberson came all the way from New Orleans to take part in the event and was among the most intriguing right side hitters on the court. I had watched her in a club tournament last season and wasn’t surprised by many of the great things she did, but she still got to show new tricks, such as her ability to play middle. A very long and athletic lefty, she did a great job on both sides of the ball, scoring at a good clip and getting blocks fairly often. Being from Louisiana, she probably didn’t know many of the players she got to share the court with, but integrated in a great way, communicating well and cheering on them.

Pierce was one of the standouts of our Stock Up Showcase last summer and it was nice to see her game taking new steps forward after just a few months. She’s a well-versed offensive player, who had the size and power to put the ball down against anyone. On Sunday, I saw Pierce have an excellent offensive performance, using her physical tools well, but also picking her shots in a very efficient and productive way. She also displayed progress with her ball control and in terms of being more consistent.
