The event reunited eight teams from the region in each of the 17s and 18s divisions at the Open Court Sports Complex, in Katy, and some of the very top prospects from the Lone Star State were in action in the first weekend of the season.
These liberos were on fire on the backcourt:
Houston Skyline 16 Royal used their two liberos very well, rotating between Moszkowicz and Jenna Thedford Jenna Thedford 5’8″ | DS/L Dawson | 2026 State TX on their way to take the title in the 17s division. Moszkowicz was very impressive, and displayed a very steady and reliable game to lead the team’s efforts on the backcourt. Her tremendous ball control was at full display every time she went for the ball and made her deliver precise passes and digs. The libero also did a great job in terms of communicating with her teammates and was very effective from the service line.
Highlights
Kimes was one of three differnet players to wear Houston Skyline 18 Royal’s libero jersey during the day. The 18s division winners got excellent production from her, both in serve-receive and defense. Kimes covered a lot of ground with her passing and operatred as a facilitator to the team’s strong offensive system. She was also very active on defense and contributed in other areas, serving well, being always there to cover her hitters and setting in transition when needed.
Hailey Ackley
Hailey Ackley
Playing for Texas Legacy 18 Adidas in the 18s division, Ackley was one of the most impressive liberos in action on Saturday. She was always very calm on the court and provided great stability to the team’s backcourt. Ackley covered a huge area in serve-receive and did a very good job of delivering accurate passes to her setter. The libero was also very active defensively, making some impressive digs at the left back position and reading opposing setters extremely well to pick up dumps.
Adrienne Enriquez
Adrienne Enriquez
Enriquez was very active and vocal when leading the backcourt efforts of her team Houston Skyline 17 Black. Her communication with her teammates was great and she was always there to instruct or support them. Enriquez was excellent with her positioning at the left back position and got a lot of touches when getting defense. She also played a major role in the team’s serve-receive system.
Sofia Deuel
Sofia Deuel
Deuel was great for her Katy United 17 Molten team, being very active on the backcourt and playing a big role for the team. She was steady with her passing, even when playing against more physical teams. Deuel also got several touches on defense and generated transition opportunities to her team when covering her hitters as well. She also proved to be a strong server and had a long run against Allegiance 17 Silver.
