PD Top 250 Expo: Super Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With 50+ athletes showing up and showing out at the Top 250 Expo, it was hard to pick out the top players. Everyone showed up, ready to put their skills on display and that's just what they did. There was talent and hustle on every court. Even with all the talent, there were a few that just simply stood out. The following players made our Super Standout list.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='483807' first='Kristin' last='Matlack']</strong> - <em>S/[program_tooltip program_id='431829' first='Athlete' last='HQ'] 17-1</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Matlack was by far the best all-around setter in the building. She had quick feet, getting to the ball and putting up a beautiful set for her hitters. She was full of energy and fun to watch. She could also give any of the liberos a run for their money. You gotta love a setter that can play defense and put her body on the floor, giving her team another chance to score. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='289176' first='Parker' last='Vackert']</strong> - <em>OH/Blackswamp</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the big arms in the gym, Parker was able to elevate and swing with some purpose. She had a high ceiling and was quick in transition making it easy for her to put the ball on the floor. Very energetic and focused, making her a standout in every drill she was in.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='289184' first='Lucy' last='Schlotterer']</strong> - <em>OH/[program_tooltip program_id='431829' first='Athlete' last='HQ']</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most powerful arm swings of the day, Schlotterer hit an extremely heavy ball. Confident and athletic, she was able to terminate the ball no matter where she was on the court. She played well on both sides of the ball making her a very versatile player to have on the court. I'm sure we will be hearing much more about her as the club season gets started.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='361068' first='Leah' last='McKinley']</strong> - <em>DS/L/ Southwest</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A ball of fire does not even begin to describe Leah. She was everywhere on the court. Getting a ball to touch the floor near her was almost impossible. She was a big voice in a tiny body, keeping the back row running smoothly. An extremely fun player to watch, diving and putting her body on the line, she was able to put herself in the right spot to make the big plays and keep the ball alive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='289172' first='Natalya' last='Bergant']</strong> - <em>RS/AVC</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Natalya was an athletic player with great court awareness, knowing when to use a little finesse and when to swing away. She was quick transitioning off the net making herself an option for her setter. With a super fast approach, she was able to elevate over the blockers and score big during the drills. She played with a relaxed confidence that was refreshing to watch. I can't wait to see her in the upcoming club tournaments.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
