There was some great volleyball being played and several prospects took full advantage of the opportunity to raise their stocks by producing at a very high level during the event. Here are some of them:
Victoriano’s stock was among the ones to rise the most following the event. She was one of the top players on the court and even earned the “Game Changer” tag for her smooth play. There wasn’t one aspect in her game that left anything to be desired as she was excellent with her ball handling, smart with her decisions and always very aware of what was going on in the court. Besides being very skilled, she also stood out for moving extremely well on the court and working hard on defense. She will soon be with the USYNT for a Winter Training Series in California.
Highlights
Young was another player who was unanimously considered among the best on the court. She was absolutely dominant when working with the other middles in drills at the net and that continued during the match-like activities. She was absolutely unstoppable on offense and we could possibly count on the fingers of one hand the number of times that she didn’t score after being set. Her power was unmatched all day and she also made excellent decisions with her shot-selection. Young also stood out with her blocking, starting plays with her hands very high at the net and making stops after reading plays.
Highlights
Romine did a very good job and emerged as one of the top outside hitters in the event. She displayed a very complete game, which features all the tools a player needs to thrive in the position. Very long and athletic, she was very strong at the net, hitting with a very high contact point and repeatedly beating the block. Romine also displayed excellent ball control when playing defense and passing. Another thing that stood out in her game was how comfortable she was when swinging after handling the opposing serve.
Highlights
Evans was one of the exciting freshmen to come to our event and make a strong impression. She was very comfortable on the backcourt and that resulted in a solid display that made of her one of the best liberos on the court. Evans covered a lot of ground in serve-receive in the match-like drills and did a great job of delivering accurate passes to her setter. She was very consistent with her game until the end and also stood out for her focus to always be there to cover her hitters and her ball control when she had to set in transition.
