A lot of future stars in the state got a chance to showcase their talents and definitely turned some heads.
Here’s the second part of our 2027 player evaluations.
Micah Harris Micah Harris 5'3" | DS/L South Lyon East | 2027 MI , DS/L South Lyon East/Team D
Harris was getting ideal first contact more times than not. She really looks the ball in and places her passes in the right spot to let her setters have a chance to succeed. Harris shifts nicely from side to side and doesn’t get caught flat-footed.
Hadley Humphrey Hadley Humphrey 5'9" | S Traverse City Central | 2027 MI , S TC Central/Northshore
Humphrey can seem a little quiet and unassuming at times, but that’s because she let’s her play do her talking. Humphrey has a smooth set and gets the ball in a good place for her hitters to succeed. As she develops her leadership skills, that will get Humphrey to another level as a setter.
Jillian Jackson Jillian Jackson 5'10" | MB Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep | 2027 MI , OH OLSM/High Performance
Jackson had a little different swing and delivery style, but she made it effective. Jackson uses her different style to her advantage, as it can be confusing for blockers who are seeing repetitive swings. Jackson brought a lot of energy to the court as well.
Avery Kapeller Avery Kapeller 5'11" | OH Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep | 2027 MI , OH OLSM/High Performance
At 5’10”, Kapeller has a long reach and that allows her to really battle at the net with long blockers. She does a lot of things right on the court, including standout defensive play and a solid serve. Kapeller is going to find a way to make an impact, even if the offense isn’t staying in-system.
Zoey Kapeller Zoey Kapeller 5'9" | DS/L Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep | 2027 MI , DS/L OLSM/High Performance
Kapeller showed a lot of maturity in the back row. She was a composed player that did a good job of communicating with her peers and directing defensive traffic. Her composed play also led to a lot of smooth passes and first contact.
Sophia LaFata, OH Edsel Ford/Michigan Elite
At only 5’7”, LaFata was up against some giants at the net on Saturday, but she didn’t shy away. While some of her attacks got swallowed up, she did a good job of adjusting and finding new ways to succeed. LaFata showed good defensive ability as well, making sure she could help her peers one way or another.
Gabby Lavoie Gabby Lavoie 5'6" | DS/L Northville | 2027 MI , DS/L Northville/Michigan Elite
Lavoie is the next in line of another talented defender out of the Northville program. As would be expected with a Mustang defender, Lavoie’s first contact was always strong. Her play in serve receive stood out, but she’s a very active player in the back row that communicates well and keeps her hitters protected.
Caylin Lindsay Caylin Lindsay 5'9" | OH Hartland | 2027 MI , OH Hartland/Michigan Elite
Lindsay had a lot of natural athleticism on display. She makes a lot of her explosiveness look effortless. At the net, Lindsay could go toe-to-toe with any of the older hitters at the expo. She also displayed a lot of quickness that helped her make some tough defensive plays.
Kyler Madison Kyler Madison 5'6" | DS/L Milford | 2027 MI , DS/L Milford/Dynamite
Madison brought a lot of energy and effort to the back row. There wasn’t a ball she didn’t give her all to get, collecting a few bumps and bruises along the way. With that said, you also didn’t see her tire and slowing down. She was determined to keep battling and succeed, which she did often.
Akylah Marshall Akylah Marshall 5'9" | OH Saline | 2027 MI , OH Saline/HVVC
Marshall is another prospect that shows a lot of explosiveness as well. She’s able to climb the ladder and get on top of the ball for some violent swings that can’t be defended. Defensively, Marshall makes good reads on when she needs to sprawl or dive to keep a ball in play.
