We’ll take a closer look at interesting club teams in the coming weeks, hitting on different age groups around the state. I’m looking forward to watching my first tournament, the Six Pack invitational, this weekend in Cedar Falls.
PowerPlex will be competing at the event. Its top 17 squad is loaded. Here’s a look at that team:
Hadley Hardersen Hadley Hardersen 5'11" | S Des Moines Christian | 2025 State IA , S-RS, ’25, Des Moines Christian – Hardersen enjoyed a super junior season this fall, when she helped the Lions reach the state tournament. She produced 331 kills, 277 digs, 47.0 blocks and 475 assists is displaying impressive versatility.
Makenzie Sloan Makenzie Sloan 5'11" | MB Indianola | 2025 State IA , MB, ’25, Indianola – Sloan played a key role in helping Indianola reach the Class 4A state championship match this season. She ranked second on the team with 41.0 blocks and was third with 244 kills.
Maci Lerseth Maci Lerseth 5'6" | DS/L Indianola | 2025 State IA , L-DS, ’25, Indianola – The junior held it down in the back row for Indianola. She led the squad with 324 digs and chipped in with 72 assists in a super successful season.
Aspen Nelson, OH, ’25, Indianola – Another member of an Indianola program that should be well positioned for another run next fall, Nelsen’s 256 kills were the second most on the team. She also contributed 263 digs.
Carley Craighead Carley Craighead OH Ankeny Christian | 2025 State IA , OH-MB-RS, ’25, Ankeny Christian – The Eagles won the 1A state title with Craighead pounding out a team-high 322 kills. She added 34.0 blocks and 122 digs.
Delaney Miller, OH, ’25, Ankeny Centennial – Miller played a staring role in leading the Jaguars to the last two state tournaments. As a junior, her 437 kills led her team. She added 239 digs and 30.0 blocks.
Camryn Overton Camryn Overton 5'11" | RS Indianola | 2025 State IA , RS-OH, ’25, Indianola – Overton’s 401 kills were tops for Indianola. She contributed 35.0 blocks and 134 digs.
Katie Quick Katie Quick 5'7" | S Ankeny Christian | 2025 State IA , S-RS, ’25, Ankeny Christian – Quick set up a whole lot of Craighead’s kills while adding 179 of her own. She cranked out 880 assists and posted 269 digs.
Macey Nehring Macey Nehring 5'4" | DS/L Ankeny Christian | 2025 State IA , L-DS, ’25, Ankeny Christian – The junior defender rounds out a trio of accomplished performers from Ankeny Christian on this squad. She recorded 234 kills, 262 digs and 85 assists.
Reagan Hanfelt Reagan Hanfelt 6'0" | MB Ankeny | 2025 State IA , MB, ’25, Ankeny – A force in the middle of the net, Hanfelt registered 101.0 blocks as a junior. Her 239 kills were second most among the Hawks.
