Texas was represented with multiple teams in every division and some of the most exciting prospects of the Lone Star State got to go on the court and battle teams from other states over three days.
On Monday, Prep Dig was at the NRG Center, following the Texas teams that competed in the 16 Open, 17 Open and 18 Open golden brackets. Several players caught our attention and this week we’ll feature them – now it’s time to look at the liberos who shone on the backcourt.
Duong was extremely active on the backcourt with her team CC Force 161 Crossfire and helped them secure a third-place finish in the 16 Open division with four wins and four losses. The libero displayed excellent ball control, which positively impacted her passing, and impressive reflexes, which came into play when she was playing defense. Duong also worked very hard to keep the ball out of the floor and made some nice recoveries when teammates shanked a pass or couldn’t control a swing. She also contributed with her serving, registering a few aces and getting opponents out of system.

With Melgren as their floor general, Houston Stellar 17 Elite got ninth in the 17 Open division with two wins and five losses. The libero was tasked with setting in transition a few times and did a good job too, getting the ball into hittable spots to her teammates.
