Triple Crown was, yet again, one for the books.
The talent on display and the epic match-ups throughout the convention center did not disappoint.
Still reeling from all of the fun, let’s take a look at some of the biggest performers from the tournament. Who were the fab five liberos in the 17s division this year?
Aniya Warren – 1st Alliance
This libero always knows how to put on a show when she steps onto the court. Aniya Warren plays the game which such a fun aura to her. She’s quick around the court, she’s vocal and she can take control of the game. Her first contact allows this team to run such an effective offense.
Sloan Cleveland – MADFROG
With such physical attackers, it is to no wonder how Sloan Cleveland seems so calm and composed on the court. Behind this composure of Clevelan, Madfrog was able to play the long game and come back from starting the tournament 0-2 to placing third!
Kirsten Simon – KIVA
She’s one of the top rated liberos in the country. Kirsten Simon showcased just why she is so good this weekend. Not only was Simon going toe-to-toe with some of the top attackers in the country, but KIVA got caught by the injury bug this weekend. This particular injury opened up a little more work for Simon to do, but she held up so nicely. KIVA would go on to place fifth.
Zoey Matias – Tribe
This player is another personal favorite of mine. Zoey Matias falls under the radar a bit, but when she steps on the court, she makes some serious moves. With such power players on this team, Matias’ role becomes even more amplified as she is the glue that brings them all together. Her first contact is on point every time and she runs the back court like nobody’s business.
Hadley Porter – Dynasty
A newer one on my radar, Triple Crown proved to be a really great showcase for her emerging talent. Hadley Porter was hanging with some of the best in the gym last weekend and seemed to have no problems. She’s a solid passer who knows how to take a punch and come back swinging.
