Prep Dig Oregon has released our 2027 Prospect Rankings!
PrepDig Oregon has identified 58 players for the initial rankings and another 25 have been added to the Watch List. These 2027 athletes have recently finished their first year of high school ball and their club seasons have just begun. With this being an initial ranking for a freshman class, the possibility of tremendous change from now to the end of their prep careers is inevitable. Factors like: growth spurts, rapid skill development, physicality, a chance to be seen at the high school level with talented upperclassmen graduating, club team changes, and more, will cause shifts in the initial rankings. However, ranking a class early in their freshman year will allow scouts a chance to see the growth of prospects from beginning to end.
The top three for the class of 2027 are Brooke Friesen Brooke Friesen 6'0" | S Sprague | 2027 State OR , Avery Herber Avery Herber 6'2" | OH Western Christian | 2027 State OR , and Ashlyn Pedersen Ashlyn Pedersen 6'1" | MB Westview | 2027 State OR .
We will start rolling out content to pair with this update, like stock risers and newcomers. Be on the lookout!
Things you need to know about our Prospect Rankings…
How do you decide where a player gets ranked? Let us tell you.
Prep Dig Oregon prospect rankings are compiled by our Scouts with input from high school, club, and college coaches who watch a ton of Oregon volleyball. We put a lot of time and energy into it and we are as diligent as we can possibly be to get it right. We never intentionally set out to bury a kid or leave them off the list. We try not to be biased, other than favoring athletes with talent and a desire to get better. We work hard at being fair.
Most importantly, this list is about college potential, not current performance. Let us repeat that: This list is about college potential, not current performance. This is the big one, the factor that causes the most consternation, the most misunderstanding, especially among keenly interested parents. With that in mind, club ball matters greatly. We are obviously not ignoring the high school season. It is a reality, however, that players who do not play in club events that are highly attended by other collegiate prospects are diminishing their opportunity to get noticed and distinguish themselves as a recruit and therefore make the rankings.
