The New
This was an oops on the Prep Dig end. Writing about Stella Smith Stella Smith 6’1″ | MB Pleasant Valley | 2025 State IA this fall I realized I missed her in the last rankings update where she is a 2025, playing on the Iowa Rockets 16R, an extremely talented team playing an age group down which is not uncommon depending on the birth date. Smith has plenty of athleticism and physicality to control the middle. She was a key piece for PV this past fall in their run to the final four in Class 5A. Fast arm, great court vision, and the ability to adjust to what the other side is giving her. She will head to UMKC and compete in the Summit League where they have plenty of Iowa alums in that conference.
Knoop was quite an athlete when it came to the bright lights of the state tournament, leading Union to an upset quarterfinal win over Cherokee to finish in the Class 3A Final Four. This past high school season Knoop led the entire state in assists with over 1200. No easy feat. That’s a lot of volleyball to stay healthy and be consistent. She is definitely a floor general for the Knights and will look to continue their solid tradition heading into her senior season.
Schurbon was really impressive out of the middle for Mount Vernon this past season. The Mustangs were runner up in Class 3A and will be looking for more in 2024 with a loaded senior class. While most teams gear up to stop the outsides for MV in Chloe Meester Chloe Meester OH Mount Vernon | 2025 State #37 Nation IA , Schurbon does a lot of the little things extremely well. She closes the block, swings with an IQ, and if teams sleep on her she will make them pay.
Newell-Fonda punched their way to the state tournament this season. They are a mainstay at the girls basketball state tournament, but state volleyball was a new one for the Mustangs. They even took the opening set off of two time state champion, Ankeny Christian. One of the key cogs for this team was Kinze Hinders Kinze Hinders MB Newell-Fonda | 2025 State IA . She was a six rotation middle blocker who was extremely active, She had nearly 400 kills and 100 blocks on the season. Hinders is one of the leading scorers for the Newell-Fonda basketball team where they will begin their post season journey back to Wells Fargo Arena.

Nissen was an All District performer for ELC this past fall where they had a breakout season. She was also a standout at the Prep Dig Iowa Top 250 and Prep Dig MN Slam this club season. Nissen has a high ceiling to her game where she has length and athleticism where she can score points from the pin. She is playing for Lakes Elite where she could be a sneaky hidden gem at the net level. Huge fan of her game.

What an athlete and competitor. I hadn’t seen Larsen play much live, but that changed after seeing her at the state tournament for Council Bluffs Lewis Central and for Nebraska Premier at the Northern Lights Qualifier. She can will her team to win and she can do it in multiple ways. Her skill set is very dynamic where he is a double-double machine. She can hit all the tempos as a setter, finding the open attacker and she can attack herself. This past winter has been busy while pulling double duty playing basketball and club volleyball. She will be competing for Nebraska Premier 16 Gold this weekend at Triple Crown in Kansas City.

I remember writing about Kamryn Scheib Kamryn Scheib 5'11" | DS/L Ankeny | 2025 State IA her 15s and 16s year where I saw her play mostly DS for her Club Ignit team out of the Grimes area. However, this past high school season she broke out as one of the top Class 5A outside hitters for Ankeny enroute to a state tournament appearance. She was a 3rd Team All State honoree by the IGCA. She was also a standout at the Prep Dig Iowa Top 250 where she just has a knack to score points. She has great court vision and IQ where she always finds a seam in the block and can cut the angles. So far, she has been a key piece for a new club in Iowa Impact out of Ankeny.

So athletic! I was able to watch Warmuth live at the Northern Lights Qualifier for her PowerPlex team where she just owned the net. She was agile, jumpy, and aggressive. There is a lot of raw athletic talent where her best volleyball is ahead of her. Warmuth preps at ADM where she had nearly 200 kills on the season for a team who went undefeated in their conference and made a trip to the state tournament.

Nehring is part of a core group on 2025s that have built Ankeny Christian into a small school volleyball powerhouse winning a state title in 2022 and 2023. She is one of the top liberos in Class 1A, being named 1st Team All State. I was able to see her and her PowerPlex squad at the Northern Lights Qualifier where they claimed an early bid to nationals, finishing second overall in the USA Division. Nehring is so steady, consistent, dependable. She can put pressure on the other side with her serve and can always get her side in system.
