We had three of our scouts covering the tourney as it was held in many different venues across the Houston area. I focused my attention on the 16 Invitational division on Saturday morning and it was amazing. Let’s “Dig” in find out who shined bright on the court.
Madfrog 16 National Green
For stop number two, this wonderful squad was seeded into power pool number one and flexed their muscles into some tough battles against some familiar foes. They went 1-2 in their first pool and then won their challenge match to make it into the Gold bracket. After winning their initial match of the Gold bracket, they lost in the semifinals to finish tied for third place overall. While their entire roster helped them to battle tough against their opponents, these were the players who stood out to me while I watched them in person for a few matches.
Gabriella Rodriguez Gabriella Rodriguez 5'5" | DS/L McKinney North | 2026 State TX [2026] 5-5 Libero (HS: McKinney North/Club: Madfrog /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Gabi is currently ranked as the 40th best overall prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at McKinney North High School and also at Madfrog Volleyball club. This young lady is absolutely phenomenal in the back row and has some of the quickest feet in the position. There were very few defenders who outplayed her from what I could see. She is one of the biggest reasons of why this team was so hard to beat. There were many times when everyone thought the rally was over, but Miss Rodriguez came out of nowhere to make sure that the ball didn’t fall to the floor. I also loved how she was ready and willing to set the second ball during out of system plays. She delivered some amazing sets both with her platform and hands to the pin hitters that they were able to swing away at. Over and over again, Gabi was making digging hard driven balls look super easy out of left back. She is definitely one to watch going in to Triple Crown this coming weekend. I think she will be very well known if she continues the hot streak of ball control that I witnessed.
Hannah Lee Hannah Lee 6'0" | MB Frisco Wakeland | 2026 State TX [2026] 6-0 Middle (HS: Wakeland/Club: Madfrog /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Hannah is currently ranked as the 9th best overall prospect and 2nd best middle in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball for Frisco Wakeland High School and also plays for the awesome Madfrog club program. While there may be more physically imposing middles in the grad class, Hannah can hold her own with the best of them. I am not sure that there is a middle who drives their feet harder to the net while approaching for an attack. The way she punishes the ground with ferocity can only be matched with the viciousness of her arm swing during her attacks. I love watching her play the position because I believe it to be amazing. Middles must play with speed and power, which are exactly how Miss Lee plays it. She is not afraid to go against anyone and you can see that in her play. Her offensive skill set is a valuable weapon for Madfrog setters to use to their advantage. This weekend when I watch, that is exactly what they did and it benefitted them greatly.
Dawn Moore Dawn Moore 5'9" | RS Mansfield Lake Ridge | 2026 State TX [2026] 5-9 Right Side/Setter (HS: Lake Ridge/ Club: Madfrog / Verbal: Uncommitted)
Dawn is currently ranked as the 7th best overall prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Mansfield Lake Ridge High School and also for the nationally recognized Madfrog volleyball club. Miss Moore is undersized at the position at first glance, but do not sleep on her height, because she will make you pay big time if you do. This is what I have seen from her in the past and it is exactly what I saw this past weekend. There is not an attack angle that she cannot use to score points at will. This wonderful left has an arm swing that is lightning quick against any block. It doesn’t matter where the block sets up as she will exploit it by going around it with precision. As an attacker, she can levitate off of the ground so effortlessly and that is a big weapon for her. During the two matches I saw, she was a game changer for this offense and it was a joy to see. All college coaches should be looking at her for what she can do on the court despite her height. Someone at the collegiate level will be getting a steal of a player in my opinion.
There were some other players who also played amazing in the matched I watched. Outside hitter Skylar Jackson Skylar Jackson 5'11" | OH Lovejoy | 2026 State TX was phenomenal all the way around. Her offense and overall ball control played a huge part in why they battled well. Both setters Jordan Turner Jordan Turner 5'6" | S Wylie East | 2026 State TX and Megan Nguyen Megan Nguyen 5'5" | S Plano East | 2026 State TX did an amazing job of moving the ball around to all hitters. Megan made a few amazing pushes against the flow of the attack that created some awesome one on ones for her right sides. Jordan is playing on another level since playing back down at her true age group this season. Ella Holley also played amazing at the net for Madfrog . She is a phenomenal attacker and deserves a few looks by college coaches. Stay tuned for more on this squad as we cover them this season.
