In this article I am going to cover five players who I thought really made an impact for their club team and who impressed me the most. These five players may not be the best players on their team, but someone I want to give a shoutout to that really stood out to me. Don’t be surprised if some of these names move or are added into the next rankings update.
Anika Groom – OT 17 O Felix (OH)
Anika has two attributes to her game that no one can train for; her height and length at the position. Although being tall and long alone is impressive, it’s her ability to play the game the way she does with that profile is what really caught my eye. She is so smooth with her movements laterally and has the vertical to really compete with the biggest blocks in her age group. All of these attributes don’t mean much in the game of volleyball without the hard work she’s put into her game on her fundamentals and technique. Her arm-swing is fast for her length and uses all of it to reach at the top or even over blockers. Being the OH1 on her team she has a huge offensive load to carry and does a great job of managing situations especially when their team is out of system. I can’t wait to watch more of Anika and to add her to the next upcoming rankings list.
Erica Duffy Erica Duffy 5'10" | S Beachside | 2026 FL – JAX Skyline 17 Royal (S)
Erica is a class of 2026 prospect who’s having no trouble running the offense for an older team at one of the most competitive tournaments in the nation. She takes control of the court early and often whether it’s creating hitting lanes for hitters or even setting up her teams backrow defense with her blocking. She’s not the tallest or fastest player you’ll find but she might just be one of the highest IQ players I have seen at the position at such a young age. Her setting footwork needs some work in out of system situations, but no matter how her feet are positioned she’s strong enough with her hands and wrists to push the ball out to the pin. The combination of strength and consistency with how she sets the ball on top of the IQ she plays the game at is why she was one of my biggest standouts from the Triple Crown.
Erynn Gotsch Erynn Gotsch 5'11" | OH DeLand | 2025 State FL – Top Select 17 Elite (OH)
Erynn has one of the more dynamic arm swings I have seen as a coach. Her arm is so loose and fluid through her arm rotation that she’s able to generate a ton of speed from her swing. She really looks like she has an elastic arm that just whips through the ball. Even when her spacing between her and the ball is off, she is still able to keep her form and produce a good swing out of it. Erynn’s athleticism definitely helps her game, but her hitting form is some of the cleanest I have seen from a technical standpoint. Even though her arm is an absolute whip, she still does a great job using her body in conjunction with her arm so she has full control and power on the ball. Watching her hit on film from the Triple Crown impressed me so much that there is no doubt that you will see her name in the next updated rankings list.
Natalie Harris Natalie Harris 5'10" | OH Lake Highland Prep | 2025 State FL – GP 17 Rox (RS)
One of the first things that caught my eye about Natalie is her vertical leap when blocking. She really gets up there and puts up a big block for opposing offenses to deal with. The most impressive part of her blocking isn’t about how high she jumps, it’s about her positioning and timing. She uses her eyework very well to get her eyes on the hitter and the ball when appropriate which gives her the opportunity to place her block right in front of the ball. While watching one of their games she had 3 blocks and a good block touch in a span of maybe 10 points. That level of consistency of either getting touches off the opposing hitter at the least while still being able to record three legitimate blocks is very impressive. When it comes to her offensive game, she really utilizes the athleticism she has to her advantage. I can’t wait to see her really grow her game this club season and push herself up the rankings list.
Mikayla Porter Mikayla Porter 5'11" | S St. Thomas Aquinas | 2025 State FL – Wildfire 17N Open (S/RS)
Mikayla really popped off the screen after an option swing kill while I was watching their film. She was able to contort her body after the receive pass to get her hips around to square to the net and hit the ball coming over her shoulder to the deep right corner. She is a major focal point for their team especially on the offensive side setting up her hitters. She does a fantastic job getting her feet to the ball on out of system situations and still has the strength and balance to use her hands. She has the strength to push the ball from pin to pin while playing with the IQ to make the right setting decisions. That’s a deadly combination that really shows why she is ranked #35 in our rankings and why I wouldn’t be surprised if she were able to move up in the rankings after her performance at the Triple Crown.
The Triple Crown tournament is one of the most anticipated tournaments of the year to watch some of the best of the best go at it. Most of these teams won’t be able to watch or play against each other until qualifiers or nationals, so it’s a great opportunity for both the players to show off their skills and for college coaches to get a glimpse of some of the top prospects in the nation.
