Almost 700 teams took the courts at the George R. Brown Convention Center, in downtown, competing for two days in one of the 18 divisions of the tournament.
Prep Dig was in attendance on Saturday, when we got to watch the pool play matches of the event. One of the divisions we covered was 15 Open, which featured eight teams, coming from several different regions of Texas. Some players stood out to us for their performances and we’re taking the week to report on them. These are the right side hitters who got the job done:
Emma Feomaia
Emma Feomaia
Feomaia appeared on the right for division winners SA Elite 151 Navy, helping the team triumph in each of their five matches. Although not very tall, she is very physical and makes her athleticism count every time she goes up at the net to swing. Feomaia gets off the floor very well and has a heavy right arm, constantly beating blockers with her power. She’s also versatile offensively, being able to hit quicker and higher sets. The right side hitter also did a good job with her blocking.
Tianna Muckelroy

Muckelroy and her Houston Stellar 15 Elite teammates finished second in the tournament, with four wins and one loss. She split time on the right with Sarah Grace Hickl Sarah Grace Hickl 5’11” | RS Friendswood | 2027 TX and displayed interesting physical tools that give her a huge upside. Muckelroy is tall and very long and uses her arms very well to put pressure on opposing hitters. A lefty, she’s still working on her offense as, while she had some good moments up at the net and made contact with the ball at a high point, she was still a little bit inconsistent.
Playing with Alamo 15 Elite, Moul helped the team get one win in five matches, ranking sixth. She split time between the left and the right and had good performances in both positions, especially offensively. Moul used her length very well every time she went up to swing and had success in most of her offensive actions. Besides having a high contact point and swinging hard, she also displayed good variation in her shots, showcasing a well-developed game. Her ball control also allowed her to help in serve-receive.
Highlights
Erylin De La Garza
Erylin De La Garza
De La Garza was a key piece in the SA Chiefs 15 Black team that finished seventh with two wins and three losses. An extremely versatile player, she played a lot of different roles for the team, hitting and blocking from each of the three positions at the net. De La Garza had great success offensively, playing with great explosiveness to get off the floor well and swing with power. Her length and good reading of the game allowed her to make a good impact with her blocking as well.
