In any release of rankings we have here at the Prep Network, there will be athletes that we either (1) just found out about, or (2) caught our eye in such a way that we could no longer keep them from the rankings. In either case, there are five athletes from five different clubs (and parts of the state) that have recently appeared on our rankings, and not because they just picked up the game yesterday. Here they are! Enjoy!

[player_tooltip player_id='494418' first='Libby' last='Ryan'], 6-1 Pin, Evansville North, Evansville United

Rarely do I get the chance to go down to Evansville to watch the small but well-trained group of kids at EU. A convert from the middle, Libby is spending a ton of her spring hammering away at smaller blocks on both pins. Broad-shouldered and heavy-armed, Miss Ryan already has a high attack touch (9'9" at last measurement) and has laid waste to blockers by going over them regularly. I'd like to see a little more defense and serve receive to truly find out what she's learned this spring. For now, her move to either pin is a bonus for all of her squads from now until she graduates.

[player_tooltip player_id='489479' first='Mariana' last='Van Der Aa'], 5-11 OH, Bloomfield, Circle City

A former Bison (Benton Central) and Boiler Juniors player, Mariana's move to Bloomfield has paralleled the Cardinals' improvement in their play this past fall. With a high attack touch and solid serve receive, she should never come out of the game in high school, and is learning the nuances of the open-level club game quickly. I like her shot selection---it appears that she can "see" the shot before she makes it, scoring points at will when things are out-of-system.

[player_tooltip player_id='498440' first='Mya' last='Trammell'], 5-4 OH/DS, Burris, Munciana

Although Mya will most likely be a three rotation defender or libero at the next level, she averaged nearly three kills per set and three digs per set during the Owl's 2A state title run last fall. Springy and athletic, Mya's ability to anticipate and "better" the ball on every first touch makes her a shoo-in for being an exceptional defender in college, and her work ethic and athleticism should take her the rest of the way.

[player_tooltip player_id='481645' first='Addie' last='Smith'], 5-9 RS, Greenwood Christian, B-Town

A recent transfer from Team Indiana, Addie is a wiry lefty who can hit all angles and is a reliable defender at the net. Her length is her strength---her attack touch is always at her max jump, making her look taller than she actually is. She can hammer away when a kill is needed and minimizes her attacking errors by placing smart shots in out-of-system situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='480368' first='Bryleigh' last='Boggs'], 5-8 OH, Wabash, Empowered

Known more for her control and smart shot selection, Bryleigh looks and acts the part of a solid outdoor player---which makes sense, since Empowered has an indoor sand facility attached to their hard court building. I like her ability to make something out of nothing; she's often received trap sets this spring, but seemingly finds a way to score with a tool shot or off-speed placement that give defenses fits.
