I caught an early weekend match for Iowa Rockets 14R at last weekend’s ShowMe Qualifier in KC. The group finished 13th in the USA Division.
Setter Hazel Schluckebier Hazel Schluckebier 5'10" | S Iowa City | 2028 IA boost the Iowa City High lineup in the fall with the Little Hawks losing their top two players at the position to graduation. The left-hander is a consistent setter, can swing from the right side and defends at the net or back row.
Julia Schlarbaum Julia Schlarbaum 5'11" | OH Clear Creek Amana | 2028 IA joins a Clear Creek Amana program that lost a lot from a super successful run during the last few seasons. The Clippers return plenty of talent, including Emily Henderson Emily Henderson 5'8" | S Clear Creek Amana | 2026 State IA and Averie Lower Averie Lower 5'11" | OH Clear Creek Amana | 2026 State IA , but Schlarbaum’s all-court versatility could land her on the varsity early in her prep career.
All-around Ally Gibbs will be a nice addition at Anamosa. She swings well at both pins as an explosive athlete. She defends in the front and back rows.
Taylor Otte stands tall in the middle of the net. She’ll bring a defensive presence and a powerful swing to HLV. Wilton’s Julianna Montez stands out as a solid setter and back row player, and Brooke Boedeker contributes along the net.
