Continue ReadingIt is spring time which means time to update rankings! Preparing for another update takes a lot of time over the club season. This is not an easy process, and while we take into awards, watchlist, all-tournament teams, and other accolades as indicators we also try to see as many players to evaluate them. We research those currently in our rankings and those that we’ve seen and added to the watchlist. We are certainly not perfect but we want to do our very best for you.
Our rankings typically start with players who are pegged as top college prospects. We talk with college coaches, club coaches, directors, and high school coaches to see what they are looking for and maybe who is turning heads. This gives us a good starting point to work from. We also watch A LOT of videos on different platforms such as Hudl, YouTube, BallerTV, or highlight videos posted to prospects’ social media. I will typically search for film even if I’ve seen them play in person and very seldom will I move a player into the rankings without seeing them play in some way.
This is never an easy or simple process and players can get missed or overlooked. We have a standard article we like to share that talks about what goes into our ranking system. You can read that article by Chris Fitzgerald HERE. I always say that I LOVE it when a player proves my ranking of them was too low. If this is something you can use for motivation, awesome! But we always say that our rankings don’t dictate the future success of a volleyball player or define you as a person/prospect. These are subjective from the snapshots we get. We will always do our best for you and thank you for allowing us to join you in this journey. Without further adieu, the spring update for the class of 2025.
