While it was not possible to watch every team and athlete, we were able to see a ton of athletes in action, placing priority on teams playing in Open and in the top 10 of the 16U division.
Below are the standout outside hitters from the class of 2025 (part one).
We were able to see Knight shine on the outside for NW Elite 18-1 Gold. She has transitioned from the middle to the outside this season and has adjusted really well. She is long, has a high reach, and good control of her snap on the ball.
Highlights
We saw Bell in action for Athena 17-1 Gold, playing as a six-rotation outside hitter. With Willa Kayfes Willa Kayfes 6’0″ | OH Valley Catholic | 2025 State OR out with an ankle injury, Bell had to take on a much bigger role than in past tournaments and rose to the challenge. She is also confident in the backcourt and brings an aggressive jump float serve.
Cornell is a six-rotation outside hitter for NPJ Portland 17-1 National. One of their primary offensive weapons, we saw her utilized often to rack up kills. She is diligent about attack placement, racking up deep corner kills. Her serve receive and ability to play the backrow was also apparent.
Highlights
Young was seen playing as an outside hitter for NPJ Salem 18-1 National. She has an aggressive last two steps of her approach that launches her off of the floor, which coupled with a fast arm swing, proved lethal. She is also a solid defender.
We were able to see Green in action for Webfoot 18-1 Elite, playing as one of their six-rotation outside hitters. She is long with a big approach and a quick arm. We watched her lead Webfoot from a 22-24 deficit to a must-win second-set victory against Athena 16-1 Gold. She is committed to play for Oregon State!
Neuman was seen on the outside when we watched Excel 18-1 Lux, but can also play middle, proving her versatility. I watched her take an aggressive approach and obliterate an out-of-system ball with confidence.
Hernandez is a six-rotation outside hitter for OJVA 16-1 Gold. She was a contributor all around when watching her play. She was set often and was especially effective at the backrow attack.
Hill was seen in action for NPJ 17-1 National as one of their outside hitters. She takes a big approach and has a hammer of an arm. She has great attacking range; showcasing her ability to turn the ball down the line or cut it to the sharp left corner.
