<p>The George R. Brown Convention Center, in downtown Houston, was packed last weekend as it hosted one of the most anticipated tournaments in the club volleyball season for Texas players, the Lone Star Regionals.</p>

<p>With almost 600 teams entered to compete in the 12 divisions, the tournament offered another opportunity for clubs to qualify for the upcoming Girls Junior National Championship and attracted competitors from all over the Lone Star State.</p>

<p>Prep Dig was in attendance on Saturday, when we got to watch 12 of the 54 teams that competed in the 17 Bid division. We've been using the week to highlight the ones that stood out with their play, and now we got to the right sides who showed great promise in the event.</p>

Splitting her time between setting and hitting duties on the right, she was involved with the team's game on several different levels and performed very well during the day. Lyssy used her length extremely well offensively, but it was her vision that made of her a prolific point-scorer as she used it to find good spots in difficult plays and to find solutions when she didn't have enough time to make a full offensive approach during rallies. One of the team's most physical players, she was the offensive player her setter turned to in difficult moments. Besides her leaping ability and her heavy arm, Rodriguez also proved to be pretty resourceful, scoring at a good rate in out-of-system plays and sets off the net.
