MKY Aces 17 squad growing in first season as club

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The MKY 17 Aces may have had some growing pains going 13-27 so far in the first year as a club, but the hope is for it to pay dividends down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The team has played with six to seven players with one leaving the team and another suffering a concussion in the second tournament. The good news is the players have more opportunities to learn the six spots on the court. Calloway County head coach Gracee Murphy is the team's head coach that consists of four Calloway County players, one from Murray and another from Christian Fellowship in Benton.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Calloway County sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='531342' first='Kayden' last='Patrick'] and Christian Fellowship junior Abby Miller have been among the stat leaders on the team. Patrick gives the team a left-handed presence. She primarily played right side hitter for the Lakers in the fall, but is also playing a lot of middle blocker and setter for the club team. Miller is an outside hitter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Calloway County junior [player_tooltip player_id='537916' first='Cambrey' last='Driscoll'] is an outside hitter and libero, but is hoping to play libero in college. Calloway County freshman Jillian Stovall and Murray freshman [player_tooltip player_id='504533' first='Reilly' last='Bassett'] played setter for the high school teams, but Bassett's role for the club team changed primarily to hitter. She has great form on her attacks that the ball sizzles toward the ground hard making it tough to dig up. Patrick can hit from the front and the back row to anywhere on the other side. That includes tough shots to the side and back lines. Patrick still manages big swings even if the passes or sets are off-target. Patrick is also a good passer and can transition from defense to offense quickly. She makes quick passes then hustles into position to hit balls or guard against blocked balls near the net. Driscoll can hit balls through and off blockers and even tip balls to throw off defenses. She has good spin on her serves. Driscoll made the All-1st Region team this past fall. Harpole moves her feet, reads hitters and times attacks well at the net. Harpole needs some work on her attacks and serving, but has shown good potential there. She has shown she can serve to spots.
