Top Prospects at JVA Summerfest’s 16 Open

This year has some of the top teams in the country coming into Columbus to battle it out.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Next up is the 16 Open. This field of teams coming into the weekend is LOADED with talent. Not only is the pool of talented players overflowing, but these teams are some of the best in the country. With the likes of Legacy, Elevation and Mintonette with bids to the open division in Vegas. This is a division that will surely have ALL eyes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's take a look at some of the big ones to keep eyes out for.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='226888' first='Aubree' last='Deshetsky'] - Legacy</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On such a stacked roster, [player_tooltip player_id='226888' first='Aubree' last='Deshetsky'] stills finds a way to shine on the court. Rolling through a incredible sophomore year, Deshetsky has become quite the force to be reckoned with on the left pin. Becoming more of a lethal threat, it only opens up the court for this Legacy group.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='227623' first='Ella' last='Grimes'] - [program_tooltip program_id='431827' first='Elevation' last='']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's not much that this player cannot do. While you'll primarily see her in the libero jersey, don't be shocked if you [player_tooltip player_id='227623' first='Ella' last='Grimes'] rocketing a ball or two on the left pin. On such a highly effective scoring team, it all starts with Grimes' first contact. Rock solid in both her reception and defense, she is always a step ahead of her opponent.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='464378' first='Ava' last='Bush-Nelson'] - FaR Out</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Emerging as one of the top middle blocking prospects in the Michigan 2027 class, [player_tooltip player_id='464378' first='Ava' last='Bush-Nelson'] is heating things up to kick off the summer. From her blocking presence to her intense physical attack, Bush-Nelson is the complete package in the middle. Despite playing up an age group, she seamlessly blends in with some of the top middles in the 16s division. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='227629' first='Alia' last='Schoonover'] - Mintonette</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Speaking of upper-echelon middles coming to Summerfest, [player_tooltip player_id='227629' first='Alia' last='Schoonover'] is atop the list. Leading this squad in the middle, Schoonover not only is an incredible blocker, but adds another layer to an already wide open offense. Her slide is one of the best in the age group and is used heavily in both receive and transition play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Isabelle Hoppe - AVC</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Considered one of the top setting prospects in the entire country, Isabelle Hoppe leaves absolutely no question to that statement when she steps onto the court. Running her offense with such pace and such precision, Hoppe's addition to this AVC team has elevated the squad by ten fold. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='226900' first='Liv' last='Hosford'] - MVA</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is an outside hitter that is quickly making quite the name for herself for MVA. One of the most heavily relied on players you'll find in the gym this weekend, MVA rides and dies on the arm of [player_tooltip player_id='226900' first='Liv' last='Hosford']. And for good reason. A hammer of an arm, she not only brings the brute strengthm but has developed a nice range of shots and speed to keep the scoring.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='403536' first='Katie' last='Pahl'] - TVC</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is going to be a team that will be heavy contenders for the Summerfest crown. [player_tooltip player_id='403536' first='Katie' last='Pahl'] on the right side and her recent development is one of the big reasons why. With her mighty southpaw at the opposite position, Pahl's emergence on offense has really added a nice layer of offense to TVC's game.
