Here is a look at five Kansas prospects from the class of 2026 who spent at least some time setting for their prep teams as sophomores.

[player_tooltip player_id='546031' first='Jaye' last='McCurdy'], 5'6”, S, Central Christian Academy, ‘26

McCurdy is an unranked talent who can set and hit. She played 96 sets for Central Chrisitan during her sophomore season and shared setting duties. She recorded more than 300 kills and assists last fall. She finished with 398 assists and 309 kills. She is a six-rotation talent who also collected 117 serve receptions, 214 digs, and 58 aces.

Maddie Kraus, 5'5”, S, Mission Valley, ‘26

Kraus plays three sports for the Mission Valley Vikings. She had a bulky sophomore stat line that included 277 assists, 184 digs, 104 serve receptions, and 60 kills. She was more involved in the hitting attack last season as her kill totals increased and her assist total decreased from her freshman campaign. Kraus scored 5.5 points per game and 3.9 rebounds during 21 games for the basketball squad. In 23 games played, she has recorded 31 hits and scored 36 runs on the softball diamond. She has a powerful swing that has accounted for eight doubles, two triples, and three home runs for the Vikings.

Abbie Ringel, 5'8”, S, Onaga, ‘26

In 69 sets Ringel dished out 351 assists during her sophomore season. Like Kraus, Ringel is a multi-sport talent for Onaga. She also collected 134 digs and 38 aces for the Buffaloes' Netters. She has hit three long balls for the Onaga softball team and has driven in 16 runners on 26 hits.

[player_tooltip player_id='731456' first='Ava' last='Price'], 5'4”, S, Riverton, ‘26

Price is an athlete I saw play club ball during the 2023 club season. After that match, I noted that Price has “quick feet and makes a solid first pass.” During her sophomore season, she finished with 261 assists and 114 digs in 64 sets played.

Daynica Euwer, 5'7”, S, Halstead, ‘26

Euwer had a solid sophomore season for the Dragons and made huge strides between her freshman and sophomore campaigns. She appeared in just 15 varsity sets as a freshman and played in 88 as a sophomore. She finished with 271 assists and 164 digs last season for Halstead.
