Even though AAUs are in full swing and USAVs for the little ones in Dallas have begun today, it doesn't stop us in the Hoosier State from having high school summer league. In reality, we're less than six weeks (!!!) from the first official scrimmages, so let's dive into some teams I didn't get a chance to see last week at Circle City.

I have to be specific here, as I received complaints about my lack thereof with all of the Lutheran-based schools in Indiana. Although undersized both in school population AND in stature for the volleyball program, this Lutheran finds themselves regularly in the regional and semi-state conversation in class 1A. A couple of kids immediately stood out to me, knowing that a couple of starters were missing. [player_tooltip player_id='554301' first='Caitlyn' last='Rose'] ('25, 6-2 RS/MB) is far and away the biggest presence for the Saints. She normally plays right side during the regular season, and held her own just fine in the middle last night. Her size alone will give opposing 1A attackers fits in the fall. Libero [player_tooltip player_id='216041' first='Cathryn' last='Erwin'] ('25, 5-2 DS/L) will be wearing the special jersey once again, even though she was only playing as a three-rotation DS last night. I'm a huge fan of her relentlessness, coachability and overall volleyball acuity.

I skipped over the Owls last week because a certain Fish was not playing. Boy, did I miss out on watching [player_tooltip player_id='554303' first='Greer' last='Henry'] ('25, 5-9 OH) play. She's built like a beach player, with her pass-to-attack skills nearly perfected. A two-sport star, watching her put balls away regularly last night proves that she'll be the perfect pin complement to Miss Fish. She's aggressive, hits with pace when needed, smart with her play and is an overall team leader.

Greenwood Christian Academy

A school located less than three miles from where I live should have been more on my radar in previous years. Making the semi-state for the first time in school history is huge for this up-and-coming school, and they're only getting better. [player_tooltip player_id='481645' first='Addie' last='Smith'] ('26, 5-9 RS) is a lefty banger that can step back and help in serve receive. She played all six rotations last night well, and should NOT come out for any reason next fall. Another pleasant surprise is B-Town player [player_tooltip player_id='539959' first='Addisyn' last='Yoder'] ('25, 6-0 MB). With length for days, she can defend from pin to pin with the best of them. Her length is also her strength on the attack, going over smaller blocks with the court vision to pick and choose her shots with ease.
