Ten high school teams met in Topeka on June 15 to participate in the Kansas Klassic at Seaman High School and Middle School.

I scouted three matches at the event and was impressed and entertained by the quality of the matches.

Here is the third of three scouting reports covering the event. This report features four athletes from Shawnee Heights and Holton.

This match featured the two top “game-changing” prospects of the morning. I loved watching this match and was taken by surprise by the performance of two prospects who have improved leaps and bounds since I last scouted them

[player_tooltip player_id='480408' first='Tinley' last='Wilson'], 5'10”, OH, Holton, ‘27

I saw Wilson play for Holton last prep season and her game has continued to evolve. She is currently ranked No. 61 overall by Prep Dig, but she can expect a meteoric rise up the rankings which will be updated in July. She had the best attacking match of anyone in the three matches. The Holton sophomore racked up 13 kills, eight serve receptions, and five digs against Shawnee Heights. She has a high volleyball IQ and went full-on “Beast Mode,” in the early match.

[player_tooltip player_id='518884' first='Avery' last='Willey'], 5'7”, OH/DS, Shawnee Heights, ‘26

Willey posted an eye-popping match and I kept coming up with superlatives to describe her game while watching her play. She is “tough as nails” and plays with “the pedal to the metal.” She is a six-rotation star and is already being heavily watched by Division II college programs. It's an over-used statement, but the Thunderbird prospect “can jump out the gym.” She finished with six serve receptions, four digs, and three kills against Holton.

[player_tooltip player_id='515147' first='Elizabeth' last='Schuster'], 6'0”, MB, Holton, ‘25

Schuster is currently ranked No. 79 by Prep Dig and hits from the middle. She is tall and has a big reach which makes her a natural to play on the front row. She looks stronger than when I saw her last fall and 100 percent played more aggressively than she has in the past. The Holton middle finished with three kills and has a “lawn-dart” serve that dives like the ball has a weighted bottom.

[player_tooltip player_id='489785' first='Reianna' last='Vega'], 5'11”, MB, Shawnee Heights, ‘26

I am very familiar with Vega's game and like the other three prospects in this report, she has continued to improve. She is ranked No. 92 overall by Prep Dig in the class of 2026. She had four kills and two blocks in the contest. She appeared to me to be a tick or two quicker than she was last fall and played a meaner than I remember. Teams with Shawnee Heights and Holton on their fall schedules better be prepared to lace them up tight!
