On June 19, I scouted the second week of high school summer league action at Nemaha Central Middle School.

Multiple high schools are participating in the weekly competition in Seneca. I watched four matches in the junior varsity and freshman division.

Here is a look at prospects from the class of 2027 who caught my attention.

I want to remind players to claim their Prep Dig player profiles if one has been created. Unranked players can create their own "free" profile on Prep Dig, and the next round of rankings is scheduled in July.

[player_tooltip player_id='553782' first='Tava' last='Gibbs'], 5'11”, OH, Centralia, ‘27

Gibbs had a solid match against Sabetha to begin the action in Seneca. She is a dual-sport prospect who also excels at basketball as a shooting guard and small forward. Gibbs had three kills and one ace against the Bluejays. She can play six rotations and has a solid hard serve and a change-up style short serve. She has the ability to keep defenders on their toes and adds solid depth to the Centralia program.

[player_tooltip player_id='553784' first='Malayna' last='Becker'], 5'10”, MH, Centralia, ‘27

Becker was the player I was most impressed with on Wednesday. She collected four kills and three blocks for the Panthers against Sabetha. She had two dirty-dirty serves that made me shout out loud. She has a big reach and lots of spring in her step. She has a solid approach and can glide through the air.

[player_tooltip player_id='553786' first='Payton' last='Huerter'], 5'9”, OH, Nemaha Central, ‘27

Huerter is a sneaky young prospect to keep an eye on. She is a big-time jumper and can play six rotations. She recorded four kills and three digs against Centralia's freshman squad. She has a helping of hot mustard on her serve and is a plus-passer. I foresee her getting quality time at the varsity level, but she might have to wait a year on a Thunder club stacked with senior talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='553788' first='Courtney' last='Stallbaumer'], 5'9”, MH, Nemaha Central, ‘27

Stallbaumer has a smooth approach and controls her swing well. She knows when to hit full-throttle and when to use a tip instead. She is poised for her age and plays under control. She has a consistent serve. It does not have much heat on it, but she will put it in play every time. The Thunder won't lose many points on missed serves from her.
