2025 Liberos That Shined at the USAV GJNC Session I Showcase

The first session of the USAV GJNC Showcase in Las Vegas, NV featured exceptional players from across the country. Many of these athletes will also compete at Nationals throughout the week, bringing top-tier talent to the event. The highlight, however, was discovering standout players who won't be playing at Nationals but proved themselves just as competitive.    For this event, I focused on the liberos and defensive specialists and was impressed by many players. However, a few athletes from the class of 2025 stood out among their peers and demonstrated elite skills in tough drills or matches. Here are the top liberos we selected from the showcase.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='467162' first='Savannah' last='Baron']</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/IMG_1329.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-561022" /></figure>   DS/L | 5'6” | School – Archbishop Mitty; Club – NorCal   Savannah is an exceptional libero, and each time I've seen her play, she impresses me more. Her ability to read the game is elite, helping her to be at the right spot at the right time more often than not. When the setter handles the first ball, Savannah steps in to deliver a high-quality out-of-system set to a hitter. This isn't just luck; I've seen her do it multiple times, demonstrating the hard work she's put into mastering her skills. She also excels in serve receive and communicates effectively with her teammates. Any top university would be fortunate to have her.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='482042' first='Sami' last='Nehme']</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/IMG_1331.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-561042" /></figure>   DS/L | 5'6” | School – Temecula Valley; Club – Forza1 16ONE    Sami did a great job passing in both warmups and team drills. Her serve receive was solid and she passes float serves with confidence. She had one of the best serves at the showcase to pair with her top-knotch passing skills. Sami's energy was high and she was a supportive teammate. She should have a standout senior season if she continue to play as she did at the showcase.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tomoni Giddings </h2>   DS/L | 5'3” | School – Cedar Hill; Club – UEPA 17Gold   Tomoni did a great job from beginning to end with her well-trained form and consistent passes to the target. She hustled hard for every ball in both warmups and 6-on-6 drills. The showcase was a very fast-paced environment and Giddings easily kept up, showcasing her endurance. With continuous play like she did at the showcase, Tomoni is poised to have an exceptional senior season.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Brayla Doss</h2>   DS/L | 5'2” | School – MASE; Club – Tenacity Volleyball Club   Brayla has some serious speed on her, which enables her to get to a lot more balls than the average player. She is a hustler and gets great height on her passes. Her passes better the ball and she was competitive in both drills and 6-on-6. With her reading skills and speed, Doss is a beast on back row.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Molly Kuhn</h2>   DS/L | 5'2” | School – Paradise Honors; Club – Atomic Volleyball   Molly had some of the most impressive passing and digging skills on her court. She was consistent and hustled hard for every ball. She got several difficult balls up and kept her team in play by reading hitters well in 6-on-6 matches. She was exciting to watch and should have a stellar senior season.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='560347' first='Veronica' last='Estrada']</h2>   DS/L | 5'0” | School – Patriot; Club – Forza1 North 17 Nationals   Veronica really stuck out during serve receive opportunities. There were some really good servers coming at Veronica, but she managed to keep her composure and consistently pass to the target. She was an early standout for me in warmups, but proved that her skills translate to gameplay on defense as well. She will be a great asset to a college team looking for a top-knotch DS.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='531060' first='Rylee' last='Koontz']</h2>   DS/L | 5'6” | School – Temecula Valley; Club – Forza1 16ONE    I noticed Rylee early in the showcase, consistently excelling in fast-paced passing drills. She has great reading and decision-making skills, maintains a solid platform on passes, and demonstrates a hustler mentality. Koontz also made several impressive one-handed digs, effectively directing them to the target on most occasions. She was impressive from start to finish. Any coach looking for a hustler that makes smart passing decisions, Rylee will be a good fit.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   Wishing the best of luck to these seniors next season!
