USAV GJNC Preview: 2027 Top Middles

The USAV Girls Junior National Championships are fast approaching, which will take place from July 3rd through the 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Top teams from across the country are currently preparing to compete in hopes of representing their club and region well. Many teams from the CEVA Region were awarded bids and are eager to show the country what volleyball from the Pacific Northwest looks like!     Leading up to the tournament, PrepDig Oregon will highlight players to watch from each of the CEVA teams that received bids.    Up now, the top middles from the class of 2027 in attendance!    Johanason has been a huge contributor for Aspire NW 15-1 Empire out of the middle, and will be a key piece to the teams success as they compete in the 15 Freedom division at USAV Nationals. She is as explosive as they come, touching almost 10-feet, with a high reach on the ball, when she connects with the ball, which is often, it is terminal. She is productive in transition, making herself readily available to swing away.     Herber is one of the talented middles on NPJ Salem 15-1 National, and she will be a major player as her team competes in the 15 American division at USAV Nationals. She is a commanding presence at the net, putting up a formidable block that proves hard to work around for opposing attackers. Also, she is confident in her ability to step in and set an out-of-system ball up for a pin hitter to swing away.     Zauner has seen court time in the middle for Webfoot 16-1 Elite and will be a major factor in the teams ability to battle in the 16 Patriot division at USAV Nationals. Standing at an imposing 6'2”, she is an aggressive blocker, taking up a lot of space with a big press. Still raw, I am eager to see her continued improvement as she showcases a lot of potential to be a big impact in future years for Oregon volleyball.     Pedersen is a steady force from the middle for OJVA 15-1 Gold and will be key from that position when her team plays in the 15 National division at USAV Nationals. She is athletic, agile and dynamic in all facets of her game. Working hard in transition, she consistently makes herself available to be an offensive option. She is disciplined technically as a blocker and attacker.     Cory has had a breakout club season with OJVA 15-1 Gold, and will be an integral piece of their success in the 15 National division at USAV Nationals. Although undersized for a middle, what she lacks in height, she makes up for in her impressive leaping abilities and explosiveness off the ground. This, coupled with a quick arm, and the ability to turn the ball quickly, make her tough to stop.     Sharp has seen court time in the middle for Aspire NW 15-1 Empire and should be seen fulfilling this role as the team battles at USAV Nationals in the 15 Freedom division. She showcases an aggressive transition off the block and does not hold back when swinging at the ball. She is diligent about finding holes in the block to swing through.     Myers is a solid contributor from the middle for Spiketown 16-1 National and she will be an important part of the team's lineup as they play in the 16 Freedom division at USAV Nationals. When attacking, her impressive leaping abilities are on full display.
