California High School Report Vol 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school season is now upon us!&nbsp; Who has what it takes to win the coveted State Championship?&nbsp; California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing teams and players.&nbsp; Let's meet a few of the teams and players who are poised for a solid run this season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Los Alamitos Griffins</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With last year's spectacular 33-8 record last season and some amazing returning high profile players who played a key role in the wins, this team will be looked at to be a top contender in the playoffs.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='469702' first='Ashley' last='Repetti'] is a big gun for this squad and she has already been tearing up the opposing defense with her barrage of kills.&nbsp; Her awesome vertical and electric right arm will set the tone for sure.&nbsp; Middle blocker Audrey Belikoff is proving to be a force at the net on the defensive end.&nbsp; She has tallied multiple blocks this season and they will need her to continue to be dominant.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='569584' first='Charlotte' last='Hall'] will also contribute mightily out of the middle to shore up the defense and score with quick attacks.&nbsp; She is a tall and strong blocker who can ball.&nbsp; Outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='509942' first='Ronni' last='Lyons'] might be a bit shorter than most outside hitters, but don't sleep on her because she has a thunderous swing that can power through any defense.&nbsp; Setter [player_tooltip player_id='468094' first='Royal' last='Banducci'] is a silky smooth disher of the rock who adds a ton of athleticism to this roster.&nbsp; She is very fun to watch and will be a factor to keep this team together.&nbsp; Right Side Natalie Smith is another awesome attacker who will help this team stay hot.&nbsp; Libero [player_tooltip player_id='510530' first='Kaitlyn' last='Herweg'] is the strong defender and passer who can keep this team's offense rolling due to her ability to control the ball and deliver it to her setters.&nbsp; Setter Sammy Maxwell is the other half of this awesome 6-2 offense that looks to battle everyone in their way.&nbsp; All in all, this team looks like they will be fun to watch and they will definitely have some battles and have a fighting chance to win every match they are in.&nbsp; We will be watching them closely and you should also.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Huntington Beach Oilers</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This wonderful squad had a magical season that culminated in a Sunset League championship and a to three finish in division one of the Southern section.&nbsp; Super libero [player_tooltip player_id='366680' first='Olivia' last='Foye'] is one of the best in the business in the back row and she leads the charge for this awesome squad.&nbsp; With her leadership in tow, this team can definitely show that they can be in the hunt once again this season.&nbsp; Outside hitter Addison Williams is someone who the team will rely on to score a lot of their points.&nbsp; She can light up the scoreboard and is great at defense when she is able to play all the way around.&nbsp; Middle blocker Amika Swanson is a staple of this team's defense as she anchors them by stopping opposing attackers.&nbsp; She will look to connect well with setter Tori Esko who has been playing all six rotations in a 5-1 offense.&nbsp; She looks strong at the net also despite her height as she has been challenging opposing outside hitters at the net while blocking at a high level.&nbsp; Sophomore Charlie Lucky Mitchell can add some depth at the middle position and is looking strong early on already this season.&nbsp; She has added some much needed firepower and a strong frame to solidify the defense.&nbsp; Right Side [player_tooltip player_id='706345' first='Taylor' last='Ponchak'] is a lengthy opposite who will be someone that opposing coaches need to track in serve receive rotations because she is lethal at the net.&nbsp; Having her offense on the right side is a true game changer.&nbsp; Middle blocker Amaya Lesley has been a true stopper at the net as she has tallied quite a few blocks already in this early season.&nbsp; She does such a great job of moving her feet laterally and pressing over the net to seal it away.&nbsp; Outside hitter Elizabeth Esko is really intriguing the way she gets up so quickly off of the ground and has a nice long hang time in the air.&nbsp;
