– Indiana University
Kaitlyn’s Voice: I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic journey at Indiana University, where I’ll be playing indoor volleyball!
First, I want to thank my family for their love and support through this process, and for providing me with the resources to turn my dream into a reality. To SCVC. thank you for putting your time effort and energy into me, and your everlasting encouragement that I will take with me everywhere I go. You’ve given me my second family and the girls that I would do anything for. And above all, thank you to God for giving me the ability to play the sport I love with the people I care about most.
A huge thank you as well to Melissa Boice, Amir Lugo-Rodriguez, Kathy Fletcher, Jessica Doerner, Dave Huber, Tatiana Brodt, and Dustin Watten. I wouldn’t be anywhere close to this opportunity without you.
Finally, the biggest thank you to Steve Aird, Rachel Morris, Kevin Hodge, Matt Kearns, and the entire University of Indiana volleyball staff for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. Your belief in me as a player and more importantly as a person is more than I could ask for.
GO HOOSIERS!!❤️❤️❤️

(Class of 2027), a standout for SCVC 17 ROXY and Los Alamitos High School varsity, is a 2024 USA GJNC 16s Open National Champion and an All-Tournament Team selection. Her decision to play up was fueled by a desire to grow and challenge herself against stronger, more experienced athletes.
For Herweg, playing up was an opportunity to elevate her game, both mentally and physically. Competing alongside older players helped sharpen her volleyball IQ and refine her touch on the ball. She quickly learned what it takes to succeed at the next level and embraced the demands of higher-level play.
One of the key challenges she’s faced is adjusting to the physicality of older teams and learning how to adapt her style of play in response. That process has pushed her to be more strategic and versatile on the court.
The experience has transformed her approach to competition. Herweg plays with greater confidence, stronger leadership, and a relentless drive to keep up and contribute. “You really have to be in a different mindset of doing whatever it takes,” she shared. She wants college coaches to know that she is a confident, hardworking athlete, fully committed to being the best version of herself for her team.
