When looking to see how good this class is, just look at the middle hitters.

This crop of middles is loaded with Division 1 college talent. Here's a breakdown of the latest MH rankings for 2025.

Current Top 5

1. [player_tooltip player_id='288945' first='Victoria' last='Gray'], Bedford/Michigan Elite

The 6'2” Gray has vastly improved as a player over these last two years. She uses her size and length as well as anyone at the net. An Indiana commit, Gray can be a dominant force and make it a long night for opposing hitters.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='156299' first='Olivia' last='Grenadier'], Country Day/Legacy

Grenadier missed most of the 2023 prep season with an injury, but she's determined to finish out her senior season strong. The Colorado commit has great explosion off the floor and can get on a real hot streak offensively.

3. [player_tooltip player_id='156307' first='Shelby' last='Ignash'], Cass City/Michigan Elite

Ignash has established herself as one of the dominant players in Division 3. As a middle, she's got the athleticism and footwork to deliver from anywhere on the net. The Texas Tech commit is also very driven, and keeps adding to her game.

4. [player_tooltip player_id='443826' first='Jordyn' last='Hughes'], Portage North/Dead Frog

Hughes has opened a lot of eyes in the last year. The 6-foot UConn commit is as explosive as it gets. She's got great lift off the floor and comes down hard on the ball at sharp angles. Making it even scarier is that Hughes still has a lot of room for growth.

5. [player_tooltip player_id='156340' first='Addison' last='Williams'], South Lyon East/Legacy

Williams is another 6'2” middle in this class that creates a lot of havoc for opponents. Her blocking is among the best, and she's got the ability to uncork on the ball and deliver a highlight-reel kill. Williams is committed to Fresno State.

Others To Watch

[player_tooltip player_id='261152' first='Grace' last='Cooney'], Hartland/L2

One of the quickly-rising middles, Cooney has showed a lot in the last year to earn herself a commitment with Oakland University. This fall should be big for Cooney as she becomes a primary offensive option for Hartland.

[player_tooltip player_id='156301' first='Elyse' last='Heffner'], TC Central/FaR Out

One of the top players in Northern Michigan, Heffner has shown the ability to finish from anywhere along the net and do it with a lot of efficiency. The South Alabama commit brings a lot of energy to the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='224604' first='Katerina' last='Stout'], Dakota/Michigan Elite

A 6'3” hitter, Stout brings something to the floor that you can't teach in regard to her size and length. But, she's shown a lot of growth in her decision-making and footwork. The Wayne State commit is improving at a rapid rate.

[player_tooltip player_id='156309' first='Lauren' last='Johnson'], South Lyon East/Legacy

Another towering middle for South Lyon East, Johnson plays with a lot of aggression and can put the ball down with as much speed as any middle in the state. The Washington State commit can quickly turn a match around.

[player_tooltip player_id='227580' first='Alyssa' last='Carson'], Buchanan/Krush

Carson stands 6'2” as well and can play the outside or the middle. She's been one of the reason for the quick rise of the Buchanan program and will be a handful for anyone in Division 2 this year. She locates the ball very well and has great arm speed.
