One of the more gratifying aspects of my life as a scout is when I get to report that a Kansas athlete has committed to a college program.

With that being said, four Kansas athletes have recently made their choices for which college they plan to matriculate at after high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='275626' first='Kennedy' last='Behnke'], 5'11”, MB, Ellinwood, '25

Behnke is ranked No. 27 overall and recently announced her verbal commitment to Barton Community College. The Cougars are getting a steal in this player and could have a junior college All-American on their roster. Behnke's choice is sort of surprise as I had her pegged for a Division I or II program right out of the gate. After two years in Great Bend she will get a chance to head to a four-year program.

[player_tooltip player_id='344606' first='Kennedy' last='Derks'], 6'0”, MB, Olathe South, ‘25

Derks has announced her verbal commitment to play for Washburn. The Olathe South middle is currently ranked No. 56 overall by Prep Dig. Derks has a compact swing and flat-out punishes a ball. Teams can't over pass against her and if a defense gives her an inch she will take foot. She could have a quick impact playing for Ichabods in the MIAA.

[player_tooltip player_id='261104' first='Brylynn' last='Wicker'], 5'11”, RS, Paola, ‘25

Paola's Wicker is currently ranked No. 62 overall heading into her senior season. She will be joining Behnke in Great Bend, as she has also verbally committed to play for the Barton Cougars Wicker is a dangerous hitter who can hurt teams down the middle of the court of hit towards the lines. She and Behnke will bring solid hitting punch to the Cougars and could both compete for starting sport early.

[player_tooltip player_id='357544' first='Suttyn' last='Harris'], 5'11”, MB, Inman, ‘26

Harris is the No. 4 ranked athlete by Prep Dig Kansas in the class of 2026. She has verbally committed to play for the Utah Utes. Harris is one of my favorites in the class of 2026 and has a bright future. The Utes will be playing in the Big 12 Conference for the first time in 2024 after finishing 11-19 in their final season in the Pac 12. Harris still has two years of high school ball left and ample time to continue to hone her skills. She has as a strong all-around game and it's exciting to know she will play against Kansas and Kansas State in the future.
