Top Outside Hitters at the Michigan Freshman Showcase

With an entire class of Michigan kids on tap, this showcase provided the perfect stage for us to get a peak of what's coming down the pipe for the next four years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On my side of the coverage, I am going to be taking a look at some of the best of the best that the showcase had to offer. Breaking it down, position by position, let's take a look at the pin hitters Here were some of the best outsides to come out of the Freshman Showcase!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson'] </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>6'0 OH - Marian/Legacy</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This player had a really strong outing at the freshman showcase. From her serve and reception to her attacking phase of the game, [player_tooltip player_id='569767' first='Quinn' last='Nelson'] brings the heat always. Her range of shots as an attacker at her age was impressive and the ball control proved why she's considered one of the top emerging freshmen.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587002' first='Cydnee' last='Speights']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>5'11 OH/OPP - Mercy/Legacy</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='587002' first='Cydnee' last='Speights'] has all the makings to be the next powerhouse out of Michigan. She jumps well and she is always taking cracks at the ball. Speights is an extremely mobile player that can get it done on either pin. Her versatility could be a recipe for success for Mercy down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587564' first='Lexi' last='Coleman'] </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>6'0 OH - South Lyon East/Legacy</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Only entering her eighth grade year, [player_tooltip player_id='587564' first='Lexi' last='Coleman'] wanted to take a crack at the Freshman Showcase a year early. To say she impressed would be an understatement. She may have been the best player in the gym. Let her swing, let her set, let her dig. Let her do whatever, and Coleman will deliver.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='584598' first='Allison' last='Stakoe'] </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>5'10 OH - Bloomfield Hills/Legacy</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I was a real big fan of this player walking out of the gym. [player_tooltip player_id='584598' first='Allison' last='Stakoe'] has a very promising career ahead. She elevates well and has a great approach to the attack. She showed to not only excel on the outside but on the right side and back row as well. With a rookie like Stakoe for Bloomfield Hills this fall, watch out!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='560553' first='Macaire' last='Kudary'] </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>5'11 OPP - Traverse City Central/Northshore</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='560553' first='Macaire' last='Kudary'] left little time before she made her presence well known. On the right pin is where Kudary looked to be most lethal, and is where she caught my eye the most. She has a heavy arm and is agile to adjusting to the variety of sets. I was really pleased to see her approach the game the way she does.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='584627' first='Shalamar' last='Guerrant'] </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>5'9 OH/OPP - Detroit Country Day/Legacy</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Don't let her size fool you. [player_tooltip player_id='584627' first='Shalamar' last='Guerrant'] not only has hops, but she has some serious fire power. She's as athletic as they come, I could see this player being able to hit just about anywhere along the net at an extremely high level. Guerrant brings a lot of talent, but even more energy to the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='587016' first='Lilly' last='Bowman']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>5'10 OH - Plymouth Christian/Legacy</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If there was a way to test for strongest player in the gym, I think [player_tooltip player_id='587016' first='Lilly' last='Bowman'] would win that test. Unafraid to go up and take a rip on the ball, Bowman was going blow for blow with some of the best hitters in the gym. She's got a lot of fire power and a lot of untapped potential that will be cumulate real well over the next four years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
