The 2024 prep season has officially begun and Prep Dig Kansas was on the road to scout a couple of early tournament matches.

I scouted Sacred Hearts' opening tournament match in Wabaunsee against the Northeast Kansas Home School Nighthawks.

Here is a report on four prospects I was impressed with in the Nighthawks' two-set win over the Knights.

[player_tooltip player_id='617602' first='Ruth' last='Fieleke'], 5'7”, OH, Northeast Kansas Homeschool, ‘28

Fieleke is a talented freshman for the Nighthawks. She had the best hitting match for the squad of homeschooled athletes. She had seven kills and played six rotations for the Nighthawks. She can hit down the line or cross-court with efficiency. The freshman played solid defense as well, tallying three digs and five serve receptions. Fieleke is currently unranked, but look for her to be added when the 2028 Kansas ranking is next updated.

[player_tooltip player_id='617603' first='Grace' last='Summers'], 5'7”, OH, Northeast Kansas Homeschool, ‘28

A second freshman who played really well at 9:00 am was Summers. She has the best serve on the NEK squad. It's a hard-line drive serve that the Knights found difficult to return. She finished with three kills and two digs in the season-opening victory over Sacred Heart.

[player_tooltip player_id='617600' first='Skylar' last='Douglas'], 5'9”, OH, Sacred Heart, ‘26

I was most impressed with Sacred Heart's Douglas and would say she has a high ceiling. Sacred Heart did not play with much energy early, but Douglas kept the team in the game with her play. She accumulated a match-high 10 kills while adding eight serve receptions and three digs. She is a left-handed hitter who elevates well.

[player_tooltip player_id='617601' first='Addie' last='Lee'], 5'5”, DS/L, Sacred Heart, ‘27

Lee played with the most energy of the Knights. She is a spark-plug six-rotation player for the Knights. She can hit, but at the collegiate level she would be best suited to play back row. She can jump and hit the ball hard. She collected a match-high 10 digs and added seven receptions. On a team that used too many free balls to continue rallies, Lee could be counted on putting a smack on the ball.
