The 2024 prep season starts tomorrow and I plan on scouting a couple of matches at the Amy Schutter Invitational Tournament in Wabaunsee.

Here is a look at some prospects to watch if you are headed to Wabaunsee tomorrow.

Good luck to all Kansas athletes and coaches as the season gets underway.

[player_tooltip player_id='222096' first='Selah' last='Simien'], 5'5”, DS/L, Northeast Kansas Homeschool, ‘26

Simien is currently ranked No. 86 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. She plays club ball with [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last='']. I have not seen her play in person, but I liked what I saw on her HUDL account. She is quick, has solid defensive instincts, and a salty serve. The Nighthawks will face Sacred Heat at 9:00 to open the tournament. Pool A also includes Centralia and Mission Valley.

[player_tooltip player_id='489775' first='Brynna' last='Zoeller'], 5'11”, S, Rock Creek, ‘26

Zoeller is currently ranked No. 146 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She is a talented setter, and I saw her play this summer. She is fast and communicates well. Rock Creek will compete in Pool B along with Axtell, Heritage Christian, and the host Chargers. Rock Creek opens its tournament with a 9:00 match against Axtell.

[player_tooltip player_id='516248' first='Talen' last='Stuewe-Orton'], 5'9”, MB, Wabaunsee, ‘27

The host Chargers very well could be the team to beat in the Tournament. Orton is currently ranked No. 80 overall in the class of 2027. She can strike the ball like a Viper and is a prospect I look forward to seeing compete. Wabaunsee opens the tournament with a 9:00 match against Axtell in Pool A. I plan on watching the Chargers' second match of the day against Heritage Christian.

[player_tooltip player_id='612038' first='Adaline' last='Bloomfield'], 5'6”, OH, Mission Valley, ‘25

I saw Bloomfield this week at the Santa Fe Trail Jamboree. Now I look forward to seeing the Viking six-rotation athlete compete for real in the tournament. I like Bloomfield's quickness and high energy. She has a high volleyball IQ and I want to see how she matches up against this tournament field. Mission Valley opens play at 9:00 against Centralia.

[player_tooltip player_id='546025' first='Oen' last='Deters'], 5'7”, OH, Centralia, ‘25

Deters is currently ranked No. 203 overall in the class of 2025. She is the Panthers' top-returning attacker. She finished with 320 kills as a junior. I saw her play this summer and she is athletic. However, she seems uncertain whether she wants to play ball at the collegiate level, hence her lower ranking.
