Kansas Pace Setters: Early 2025 Assist Leaders

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There<a> </a>are plenty of impressive assist totals across the state already this prep season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The setter position is the hardest for me to stat in person, so I don't always give them as much love as I should in post-game reports.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>However, with the “Kansas Pace Setters” series I can highlight Sunflower State setters as they rack up assists during the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I would like to remind readers that the Max Preps and KSHSAA websites are very helpful in collecting data for these positional breakdown reports. I have already noticed an uptick in more coaches inputting their scores and stats in a timely fashion this season compared to last. I appreciate and applaud your efforts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at five prospects from the class of 2025 currently on the leaderboard for assists. These are of course unofficial as many programs still don't report their stats.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Janae Crimmins</strong>, 5'9”, S, Clay Center, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Crimmins is currently unranked by Prep Dig, but unofficially leads all seniors in assists with 212 in 20 sets. The Tigers have jumped out to a 7-1 start to their season. Crimmins has been running a high-scoring offense with big match wins over Rock Creek and Silver Lake. Crimmins finished with 905 total assists during her junior season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='659546' first='Hallie' last='Holthaus']</strong>, 5'7”, S, Nemaha Central, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A second small school setter has reached the 200-assist mark already this season. Holthaus has 211 assists in 21 sets played.  She has been playing solid defense for the Thunder as well with 34 digs. The Thunder have a 9-1 record to date. Nemaha's only loss came against Clay Center, and the Thunder have quality wins over Jefferson West.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='493422' first='Lauren' last='Heinz']</strong>, 5'7”, S, Andover, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Kansas currently has Heinz ranked No. 54 overall in the Kansas Class of 2025. She has racked up 160 kills in 15 sets. Andover is undefeated heading into the week with a record of 7-0. The Trojans have two wins over Maize and one over Derby. Maize is one of the top-ranked uncommitted setters in Kansas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='514807' first='Remy' last='Tate']</strong>, 5'7”, S, Ingalls, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You have to go way out west to find the next setter off to a hot start. Tate is currently ranked No. 126 overall by Prep Dig. She is leading the Bulldogs with 130 assists in 13 sets. She has already achieved the 1,000-career assist threshold and will make a run at 2,000 if she keeps up her current pace. Ingalls owns a record of 5-1 after six matches with wins over Bucklin and Macksville.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='493498' first='Jaidyn' last='Follis']</strong>, 5'5”, S, Beloit, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I watched Beloit this week and as usual, Follis did a great job distributing the ball to a deep group of Trojan attackers. She had 116 assists after 11 sets played. I unofficially had her with 30 assists in a three-set win over Ellinwood. Beloit has a record of 4-2 after six matches.
