With about half of the high school regular season in the rearview mirror, we continue with our weekly reports by featuring class 2A, and what a class it is. The implication of success starts with our title, where the five teams listed today are a combined 67-9, with one undefeated team in the mix. Here they are, with the main attacker featured.

#1: Brownstown Central (15-1)

Like class 1A, there is a distinct gap between the top team and the field. The Braves have laid waste to the rest of their schedule, and are showing no quarter for their opponents. One of the tougher schedules in all of volleyball, BC is led by [player_tooltip player_id='750544' first='Sophie' last='Wischmeier']. Her 4+ kps/3+ dps stat line leads a balanced offense that includes her cannon of an arm and relentless nature---not unlike the rest of her Brave teammates.

#2: Wapahani (13-1)

Synonymous with Delaware County volleyball, Wapahani's storied history of volleyball requires no explanation, and this year's edition is no different. Most of the kids that play for this program were raised in the Munciana style of play---solid ball control and a high volleyball IQ. Senior Sophia Beeson is cut from that cloth, as her 4 kps/3 dps stat line pairs with her senior leadership nicely. She's also a big and physical attacker on the left that can be intimidating at times.

#3: Benton Central (13-3)

The Bison, like Brownstown Central above, play a pretty tough schedule to prepare them for a run in the postseason. Similar to the Braves, they also play back and forth among 2A and 3A schools, depending on the IHSAA's reclassification every couple of years. That being said, [player_tooltip player_id='260994' first='Calista' last='Foster'] makes this team go, as her Boiler Juniors training has her all around game as one of the best in the state. The Western Kentucky commit averages four kills per set while being a primary passer in serve receive, and could hit 1000 career kills before the end of this, her junior season.

#4: Southwood (12-0)

Despite their undefeated record, I'm not quite convinced of the Knights' success in comparison to the others on this list because of that strength of schedule. I would be remiss, however, if they didn't get at least a little attention in this edition of the Top Five. Led by youth and athleticism, [player_tooltip player_id='494521' first='Shania' last='Rhamy'] is a relentless and driven outside that is intimidating on the court and plays like she hates to lose more than she loves to win. Her Munciana training is obvious---an all-around game that is second to none and worthy of All-American status. And still only a sophomore.

#5: Tecumseh (13-2)

With a win in hand against Barr-Reeve, Tecumseh wraps up our Top Five. Their matches against 4A #4 Floyd Central and the aforementioned Brownstown Central this Saturday should really show how prepared they are for a postseason run. The Braves' balanced offense is led by senior Katelyn Marx, a big and physical three-sport athlete that is no stranger to winning in ANY sport, let alone volleyball. 500+ career kills in volleyball, 200+ career points in basketball and .400+ career batting in softball---yep, she's good.
