About Shania
Expert Analysis
Kyp Harasymowycz | Prep Dig Scout
From tiny Southwood High School, Shania is a primary-passing, six-rotation outside that is a nails passer and a bulldog of a competitor. Yes, the Kentucky commit will probably be asked to do WAY more passing than hitting in the SEC, she’s still a relentless player with athleticism for days and never takes a play off, ever. I like this kid a lot—-mostly because of that tough competitiveness that she brings—-but the extra gear of toughness that just isn’t seen from volleyball players in Indiana is a refreshing change from the same-old, same-old of competitive volleyball in the Hoosier State.

Shania is a six-rotation beast of an attacker that is the personification of “relentlessness”. An absolute terror to go against and a stalwart and loyal teammate when playing with her, Miss Rhamy will make the folks at Kentucky very happy when the fall of ‘27 comes around.

If there was ever an athlete that personified the word “relentless”, it’s Shania. The Kentucky commit was just that in their sweep of volleyball blue-blood Wapahani, pounding 17 kills to go along with 8 digs, 3 blocks and 2 assists. Up next is #3 Benton Central, another program that understands relentless.

A six-rotation beast of an outside, Shania is an absolute force of nature, with a relentlessness that is only exceeded by her highly trained skill set. The power she gets behind the ball when attacking is unmatched, and she has perfected all parts of her game in all situations. She is NOT a “look at me” player—she gets the job done with a workmanlike demeanor and attitude that looks like what the definition of “driven” should be. If you haven’t seen her play before, a player comparison I give is Lexie Almodovar, another relentless Munciana product who finished as the A-10 player of the year twice along with being a third team All-American her final year at Dayton. Same size, same demeanor, same way of playing—a relentless, driven winner who knows no bounds.

When Miss Rhamy came to our Showcase late last year, the list of solid, six-rotation outsides was her—and everyone else was a distant second. Shania has the whole package. Smarts when she needs it, a heavy-hitting arm swing, solid ball control skills, and an all-around game that is as relentless as it is competitive. She took no plays off—and continues to do so at Munciana—regardless of the score, the situation, or who she’s playing. There’s no doubt about her dominance in high school—Southwood has amassed 60+ wins in the last two seasons. But even in open-level club ball, Shania is the real deal, as evidenced by her multiple postseason accolades through the AAU.

There’s no way I could cover this team without mentioning this young lady. She is hands down one of my favorite players to watch right now. It’s like Shania has a chip on her shoulder and she is out to prove something to EVERYONE. I love her kind of play – fearless, relentless, high energy, a great teammate and an absolute beast when attacking. Right now, she has a great cross court shot, but I am excited to see if she can develop it even more this club season and work on hitting it even sharper inside the block (a la Sarah Franklin and Jess Mruzik). Another aspect I am looking forward to her developing more is her line and cut back shots. Right now, she is so effective on the four ball and two ball hitting that power shot, but she will elevate her game quickly if she can start to mix in the other direction. She is a true middle back defender who can read well and react quickly, using both her platform and hands, plus she is always ready to hit. Lastly, when she is in serve receive, the Mustangs usually pass with two and I can see why – Shania passes nails and is one of the more confident passers (hard to rattle) that I have seen at this age.

Rhamy can smack balls on target from all six spots on the court as the result of a sound follow-through. Rhamy and her teammates will give opponents fits with tandems. Her energy is high on every play. Her teammates constantly looked at her when the team needed a big kill. She has good timing on her blocks making up for a size differential with her strong athleticism.

A picture of what a primary-passing, six-rotation outside hitter should look like, Shania is another that has received postseason honors at the club level. With multiple All-American nods from AAUs in Florida, Miss Rhamy plays with a maturity and strength that has no equal in this class. Powerful when needed and smart in her play, Shania reminds me of Lexie Almodovar of Dayton—a quick-twitch, strong-armed outside who should never come out of the game for any reason.
