Here is my third and final report today that previews the Class 4A Western Sub State.

Here is a look at the brackets for each of the four Sub State tournaments and one prospect to watch from each grouping.

Sub State 1: Clay Center (Host), Augusta, El Dorado, Buhler, Mulvane

[player_tooltip player_id='483905' first='Raimee' last='Lipker'], 5'10, OH, Clay Center, ‘27

Lipker leads No. 1 Seed Clay Center in kills with 341 in 80 sets. She is currently ranked No. 39 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. While I have not seen many of the teams in Class 4A out west, the Tigers were the best teams I saw. Lipker is athletic, the team is deep, and Clay Center is well-coached. They open the postseason against the winner of a “play-in game” between No. 16 Seed Augusta (6-28) and No. 17 Seed El Dorado (4-28). The other match in this region has No. 8 Seed Buhler (20-16) squaring off against No. 9 Seed Mulvane(17-14).

Sub State 2: Clearwater (Host), Winfield, Chapman, Rose Hill, Circle

[player_tooltip player_id='520294' first='Kenzy' last='McArtor'], 6'0”, OH, Clearwater, ‘25

McArtor is currently ranked No. 41 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026 and has verbally committed to play for Oklahoma Christian. She leads the Indians in kills with 412 in 73 sets. Clearwater (31-4) is the No. 2 Seed overall and will face the winner of a “play-in game” between No. 15 Winfield (8-15) and No. 18 Seed Chapman (2-20). The other match-up in this grouping has No. 7 Rose Hill (20-14) meeting No. 10 Seed Circle (19-16).

Sub State 3: Andale (Host), Hugoton, McPherson, Wellington

[player_tooltip player_id='357543' first='Hayden' last='Grimes'], 5'9”, OH, Andale, ‘26

Grimes is Andale's top attacker. She has recorded 305 kills in 69 sets for the Indians. She is currenlty ranked No. 34 overall by Prep Dig. Andale (28-6) is the No. 3 overall Seed in the West. The Indians will meet No. 14 Seed Hugoton (10-25). The winner of the match will face the winner of the match between No. 6 Seed McPherson (22-15) and No. 11 Seed Wellington (18-16).

Sub State Four: Pratt (Host), Abilene, Concordia, Ulysses

[player_tooltip player_id='697325' first='Ryann' last='Eastes'], 5'6”, S/RS, Pratt, ‘25

Pratt is a team I hope I get to see in Hutchinson. Eastes is ranked No. 204 overall in the class of 2025. She leads the team in kills with 267 and second on the team in assists with 327 in 80 sets. Pratt (23-12) is seeded No. 4 out west. The Greenbacks will play No. 13 Seed Abilene. The winner of that match will face the winner of No. 5 Seed Concordia (21-14) and No. 12 Seed Ulysses (16-19). Concordia is a team that could win this Sub State and give Pratt a run for its money.
