The athlete who rises above the rest and garners the most votes will be honored as our Player of the Week. Meet the Nominees
Alayna reached her 4,000 Assists Milestone this week in a district win against North Forney on October 1st.
She has led the Royse City Bulldogs to a 33-6 record so far this season.
She leads the state in assists and 3rd in the nation according to MaxPreps. She also leads her district in aces.
Highlights
Kindyl Peltz, setter in the class of 2026, helped the Greenville Lady Wave volleyball team to their 4th straight win with victories over Fairborn and West Carrollton this week. In the two matches Kindyl combined for 40 assists, 6 aces with no errors, 16 digs, and 7 kills. The junior setter also surpassed 1700 assists for her career this week in climbing to 1730. In addition, Kindyl also passed the 150 ace benchmark this week in rising to 154 career aces.

For the week of September 30th – October 6th, sophomore, Edie Miller, earned her 1,000th career dig, broke Iowa City Liberty High’s Individual Match Record (which she previously held) with 44 digs in a four-set match, became the leader in 5A with 6.3 digs per set, and was named the Iowa City Press Citizen Female Athlete of the Week. Her work ethic, drive, game IQ, and love for the game make her so fun to watch on the court!

Elizabeth King has recorded her 500th kill as a junior with only playing 2 full seasons as a varsity player, and this season she has recorded a FVC season high 57 aces as well.

Gritzman was able to set a school record and her own personal record for high school and hit 1,000 digs for her varsity career and this season is in the top 3 in FVC in aces as well.

Payton, a JUNIOR, led her team to a 4-1 record this week (14-4 overall)with their only loss coming to the number one team in the state, in a bigger class. She had a .476 hitting efficiency for the week with 47 kills and 13 blocks, in 12 sets, as a middle hitter. She currently leads the state of Nebraska, all class, in hitting efficiency, at .449.
Highlights
Ema led the Rockets to the first ever Battle of Bethesda tournament win, recording her 600th assist in the process (two days after she recorded her 600th kill in a regular season win vs. Albert Einstein HS). She finished 4 of the 5 tournament matches with double digit kills (48 total), and in the final she had a “triple-double” (10 kills, 11 assists and 10 digs). In the semifinal vs. Academy of Holy Cross, when Richard Montgomery was coming from behind in both sets (down 23-20 in the first and 24-19 in the second) she was instrumental in crunchtime, saving set points and bringing her team back to win both sets.

Grace Martinez of the Calallen Wildcats is a Class of 2026 setter who not only plays exceptionally well on the court, but also pushes her team with guidance and great leadership. As a junior setter for Calallen High School, Grace’s stats and accomplishments speak for itself. This week alone Grace stacked up 37 assists in 2 games where her and her team swept both opponents back to back. This year Grace made the prestigious 2026 Player Watch list for Prep Dig and also surpassed a milestone of 1,000 assists as a junior. As the season goes on Grace continues to thrive and push herself to the highest standard there is along with ensuring the success of her team by running a strong and strategic offense. Maddie is a 3-year starting varsity setter. This year she has reached the milestone of over 2000 assists. She reaches the 2000 assist during the Grafton match. Currently Maddie has 2212 assists and is averaging 9.0 assists per set. She is on track to have over 2500 assists for her career. Maddie’s serving average is 93% with 18 ace serves. She also has 176 digs and 46 blocks. Maddie was also selected to the 2024 AVCA All – American Watch List Award.
