As we get to bigger schools, the lights get a bit brighter with more and more people in the arena watching some of the best Indiana has to offer in the sport of volleyball. Two nationally-ranked teams grace the court of Worthen Arena, and the first plays in this matchup, which should showcase a TON of college-ready talent from first contact to termination.

The Hornets, with the talent they had on their roster last season, had all the makings of a run to Ball State's campus. Fast forward to this fall, and THIS year's team is the one playing for a state title, and for many good reasons. From the start, you will notice top attacker [player_tooltip player_id='237882' first='Maya' last='Harris'] (Illinois commit) almost immediately. Her 30 kills and 6 aces in the five-set thriller over NorthWood last Saturday should tell you everything you need to know about her. She's just as tough, if not moreso, from the baseline as she is in every attack she makes. Miss Harris can single-handedly change the game, as she has all season with her 5+ kps/.380+ stat line. In order to win this matchup, however, Maya will need a supporting cast. Look no further than senior middle Bailey Holman, who added 11 kills and 3 aces while hitting over .500 in the semi-state final last weekend. She might need to put up some bigger numbers on the attack against her opponent Saturday, and has shown steady improvement over the length of the season to prove that she's up to the task. Those two hitters can't get their numbers without a well-placed ball from setter [player_tooltip player_id='172318' first='Ava' last='Harris'] (Villanova commit). Her consistency and tempo of ball make her one of the best recruiting finds at the setting position in her senior class. Libero Anna Mcclure will be called upon to do that much more in both serve receive and defense against the balanced Royal attack.

The Royals, tops in the state of Indiana for all classes and top five nationally, have played as if on a mission all season long. They rolled through 3A top five Tri-West quickly in the semi-state final last weekend, and have dropped only five sets all season long. Their last set loss? To Tri-West in mid September, a five-set win for the Royals. The balance here is unmatched statewide. Returning 4A 1st Team All-State honoree [player_tooltip player_id='152943' first='Logan' last='Bell'] (Oregon commit) has been starting for Roncalli since her freshman campaign, and her 1250+ kills in her career shows a level of consistency as a six-rotation passer that cannot be duplicated. [player_tooltip player_id='254827' first='Lydia' last='Stahley'] (Missouri commit) is a junior outside that shows a similar level of consistency and success over her two years of starting, and has hit .300 for her career while also receiving the bulk of the offense over that time period. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='252404' first='Addie' last='Haberthy'] has also started for the Royals the last two seasons, and will pass 2000 assists next fall as a senior. Her tempo, location, size (5-11) and overall understanding of who should get the ball when are hallmarks for this young lady. Junior libero [player_tooltip player_id='413233' first='Reagan' last='Turk'] (West Virginia commit) is one of MULTIPLE defenders committed to play at the next level. Miss Turk is yet another of a long line of defenders that excel at the high Division 1 level after high school, and if the Hornets want to win, they should avoid Reagan at all costs.
