MI Top 250 Preview: How Did the Middle Blockers Do This Fall?

What better way to fill that gap between HS and Club than coming to Prep Dig's Top 250 Showcase?!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This showcase has become a staple in the Mitten state for some of the best recruits to come out and show their best game. This year is cooking up to be another spicy event with a lot of familiar faces to go along with some new ones that could be big game changers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We're breaking it down position by position. Let's take a quick glance at some of the middles that will be at the UWM Sports Complex this Sunday. Dankers was a key piece in Traverse City Central's run all the way to the Quarter Finals just a few weeks ago. This 6'0 MB/OPP can do a lot of fun things along the net and was a constant weapon for the Trojans.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='487079' first='Jillian' last='Gibbs'] - Orchard Lake St. Mary</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In their first season in Division 1, OLSM made huge waves in the division. This had a lot to do with the presence of [player_tooltip player_id='487079' first='Jillian' last='Gibbs'] in the middle. At 5'11, Gibbs relies on a lot of speed in her game to make her a viable threat at all times. Gibbs can also swing from just about anywhere along the net and deliver at a high clip. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='490341' first='Madeline' last='Ostrander'] - GR Catholic Central</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is a big prospect in the middle out of the West side of Michigan. [player_tooltip player_id='490341' first='Madeline' last='Ostrander'] has been a real promising player for a few years now and continues to grow. This past fall with GR Catholic Central saw Ostrander step her game up to a new level. She is an elite attacker from an array of different sets and has a lot of ceiling left to find.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='546049' first='Kate' last='Sulkowski'] - South Lyon</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>South Lyon went on to have one of their best seasons in program history. This is the type of team that is on the rise and it is much to do with the rise in play from [player_tooltip player_id='546049' first='Kate' last='Sulkowski'] in the middle. A very lengthy presence, Sulkowski is rounding around the 6'1 space with a long wingspan. She can be a key shut down blocker on any team she plays on.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow'] - Romeo</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most promising prospects in the field, this emerging sophomore is a talent to keep close eyes on. [player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow'] is coming off of a really exciting fall with Romeo. A program that was once a power in Division 1 got awfully close to returning to their roots this season and a lot of it had to do with Rosenow in the middle.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='555634' first='Kennedy' last='Hinkle'] - Stevenson</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Speaking of stock risers coming to the Top 250, you have to keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id='555634' first='Kennedy' last='Hinkle']. This is another player that keeps getting better and better. This fall saw her take Stevenson to new heights, advancing to the Regional Finals after an upset over Grosse Point South. Hinkle is becoming more and more dynamic as her career unfolds and has shown signs of greatness in both the middle and pins.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
